You come here to see if this game is for you... right? Let me tell you something... this game has a soft start and gets harder over time, at the end of the game... the difficulty ramps up a notch up to the point of hardcore.

so the most important thing that got implemented in the game recently is the ability to set the world settings that you start with! When you start your first playthrough of all time, you should keep that in mind... you can even set the world settings after you already started... when you change your mind also change your world settings if needed.

dying in this game is especially hard and unforgiving... depending on world settings you loose total %amount of XP and can even loose levels... on top of that you drop all your hard earned gear wich can be frustrating, but as i told you already... its a matter of how you set up your game settings.

Now for some more advanced insights towards the gameplay that we all love so about this game:
the progression is really rewarding, as the game design is centered around feeling accomplished without being forced to maintain hunger or thirst as example... instead you are rewarded greatly by eating with excellent buffs, but its not forced on you.

same goes with building cozy huts... it gives you great buffs, but if you want to be a nomad that sleeps outside... go on

in the end you will do all this things because you gain great buffs, but its not forced on you, wich feels great as a player.

you dont have to spec your build with points... just do what you want and you will level up in exactly that category ... for example... running is a skill... when you run more... you will level up running and your running gets better... same goes for jumping / swordfight farming cooking blunt weapons and so on.

last thing: how to get around even with the most hardcore settings
you need to learn the movements and fight styles of each mob in the game... in combination with stamina regeneration of your character and invincibility frames you can basically snack ever enemy no matter how big or bad they first seemed.
learn the mechanics of the game buffs and master the terrain that has to be used to your advantage, and for gods sake :) relax and dont think this is a race game. when you listen to this tips you will beat the game on the hardest difficulty and enjoy every bit of it.

I like this game! It needs some Multiplayer to be awesome tho.

Also. the bad reviews about the camera are not justified... its just not your modern day camera, so people are not used to that kind of view... i would guess. but me as an old gamer with 40 years experience, this is aboslutely fine!

for the state of development i can tell you that this game is in late stages of early access, i dont know when it will release fully but the gap between the current state and the way it should end up is not that big, so i say this game is going to be a good choice for you to buy. status 04/2025

Have a good day

it sounds weird but i felt mocked by the game... as it was running smoothly, but after the 2 hour mark... it started crashing every 5-7 minutes and now i lost the interest in playing it any further.

it has something to do with unity, i cant really tell where the problem comes from... maybe in a few months when im in the mood i will try it once more but now i lost my patience

edit.: i finished the game on my steam deck... that worked!

I loved KSP1.

And I hate how KSP2 is.

So, i just finished the Game wich is inside Foundry for now... and i can tell you its fun to play, and i compared it mainly with "Fortresscraft Evolved" because that was a blockworld automater as well. you shouldnt compare it too much to other automaters that are not "blockworld" that makes it truly different to approach on.

So if you are interested in around 50-100 hours of time in a fun game... go for it, its probably worth your time as long as you want to chill.
----
For the users that want to play a hardcore automater. This game is not finished yet and needs a true endgame. you can check it still out and learn how to play it right in the midgame challenges of factory building, as the endgame is not there yet and/or needs big changes. it is fun for me at least, because i currently look for games that can be left alone for an hour when my family needs me so i can leave the PC any moment. Still spending hours on it because its fun.
----

Now for some detailed information if you are looking for more specialized infos about the game status:

The graphics look smooth and cute, some interesting things about how the world gets rendered i did find so far, especially when you load in a huge factory from far away, the algorithms look funny and almost a bit random to me, but im sure thats just for now.

the tutorial and the voice lines are rudimentary, and will probaly (hopefully) be improved and increased in amount, because they play themselfes before you finish goals (jetpack fuel) and also dont really give you a motivation after a certain point (endgame)

balancing of recipes, endgame conveyours and drilling... including blast furnaces.... endgame items in particular need a huge rebalancing, as you need multiple max level belts fo just satisfy regular blast blast furnaces, and because the ressources are rare and finite on the world (wich isnt bad at all) there is a problem that occours out of that... you need to build multiple lines of infrastructure over a vast discante... belts, power lines, foundations, pipes for fracking etc. also the minerdruids even the level 2 ones, have a small distance they work on, so you have to constantly rebuild the mines that are going empty, wich causes some backtracking that might otherwise be not nessesary, until the mine is "truly" empty...

small changes need to be done on recipes. for examples, CPU recipe says it produces amount x2 then in reality it produces 8x... not that it bothers me but thats a thing thats still in the game... that some recipes lack information about lenght of time and amount, but that is to fixed easily for sure.

automatic building and blueprinting is not in the game, and the autobuild mode is limited to 38 tiles... sometimes 39 tiles for some weird reason i couldnt figure out. so there are some features that will probably make it to the game sooner or later, because they should be standard features, but its early access as we all know.

to round up my feature, i will say. this game runs absolutely smoothly. i havent had a single crash and that is something i REALLY like... a game that crashes a lot makes every fun obsolete, so this bullet was dodges here! congrats!

please continue the work on foundry, as i like it and want to replay it for sure when it was more story and more features, for now you get a good review, and have a nice day!

gameplay - great
story - good
graphics - great
leveldesign - monumental
accessebility - great

I played TP-1 and i had a hard time finishing the first game... especially the DLC RTG, not so with the 2nd part of the series, and that i have to say is a good thing... idk if its from solving more puzzles over time or not, but what it seemed to do it for me when i played the 2nd game is the accessebility of the puzzles when going through the main story line... that was much better in this game then in the 1st one... and it became a really good game... i have to say that this is a very good puzzle game. hopefully will replay it in a few years when i forgot how everything needs to be solved :)

Just wow, this game is really something that i would like to see more often in gaming, its not the "classic" approach that you would expect from a game nowadays.

This game is worth buying.

###
Now for some critics. incl. spoilers
At some parts i had the feeling that there was too much talk with the characters, but that could also be coming from me not playing point and click adventures very often, im more of a "faster" player
maybe thats also the reason i liked it so much, because it plays with my expectations.
It also reminded me of wrong decisions that i do, that i will later regret, and when reflecting about it, i realize it wouldnt have changed a thing.
also, my gf is historically educated, and she translated a lot of the latin stuff as we played, that was also pretty fun because i had extra information while playing it. She also seemed to be impressed by the accuracy of the material from german/austrian lore that went into this game.
thats for my critics, you might have noticed there is not much bad to say, thats how it is.

you wanna buy this game?... then question yourself... are you a "gamer" or are you a fanboy of made in abyss... because thats really important here... if you are a gamer and buy the game because you like good programming, and a nice feel in the games... DONT BUY IT !!!! i repeat dont buy it... you will be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pissed... this game is doing so many things wrong... you wouldnt believe, if you are a fanboy... go on... read the rest of this review... if you dare

when you are a fan boy and you are totally obsessed with made in abyss... ok well... it could probably be something for you... but be warned...even as a fanboy of the anime or manga... this game will make you rage at some point! when you are "forced" to do a part of the mainquest that mocks you in every possible way till you die of starvation on the way back to the surface, because the game wanted you to go through some extra layers that you didnt bring food and tools for, then poisons you on purpose, and gives you endless follow up missions to the point you cant even hear rikos damn ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ voice... and finally after you have completed some stupid main missions, that completely violate the lore of the manga and the anime,... you are allowed to crawl back to the surface suffering from internal bleeding, diarrhea... rikos cancerous voice and then running out of food so you die... at the last transfer of layers to the surface... then check your savegame and realize you have just wasted 2 hours of gaming just because you didnt bring enough food because the game forces you to do so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid extra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... you are welcome

this game is perfect for you then... its cursed...
and i mean not only the curse of the abyss.... no
its literally cursed... the game mechanics and the quest mechanics are so intentionally bad coded that i want to puke to say the least on this idiotic developers...
the only reason for me to continue playing this stupid game is... because i payed ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ full price 60 bucks for it just to realize it gets worse towards the endgame... im not mad... im just telling you how it is... you should buy this game and go ♥♥♥♥ yourself. thats the curse of this game.

oh, and dont even try to have fun
