Awesomesauce!

Set in 2007 but with an 80s look and feel, you are Rex Power Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando (best guy in the universe), whose mission is to stop his mentor gone rogue, Sloan. The story is silly and fun, full of jokes and references to 80s movies and modern video games such as Alien and Assassin's Creed. The humor in the game is so cheesy it actually is pretty funny.

The game's mechanics are built upon the already great Far Cry 3 mechanics with a few twists of Cyber Powers and Sci-Fi stuff which is pretty cool. To run faster than a car and jump from the top of a mountain only to hear your Cyber legs laughing at the laws of physics :)
The game has a huge map (roughly 40% of Far Cry 3's map) filled with outposts to overtake, many collectibles, and Dino Dragons to fight (Dragon + Lizard beasts that shoot lasers)
The soundtrack is easily a 10/10.

Re-inventing the wheel.
Who would have thought that a 2D stealth game would actually work? certainly not me.
As a fan of stealth games, this game was truly amazing.

STORY: The story is pretty simple and straightforward, but I was actually surprised with the ending; it was a sudden sweet twist.

GRAPHICS: The art style is similar to Klei Entertainment's other games such as Shank. The style gives a cartoony feel to the game, but once the blood starts flowing, it will dawn on you that it is not such nice place.

GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is all about stealth, you can finish entire levels without killing anyone (but you will miss out on the awesome stealth kills animations) and without being discovered. The level design is really great, there are multiple ways (paths) to finish a level and such. Although the final quarter of the game had a bit too much padding.

Overall the game really sets a high benchmark for all the upcoming (2D) stealth games.

Where should I start? The game's combat? The art direction? The story?
Darksiders II is an amazing and a breathtaking journey that you can tell that it was made with love. The game builds upon the original and fixes almost every flaw it had.

The story of Darksiders II follows Death, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, on his quest to clear War’s name. The story runs parallel to the original Darksiders’ timeline and thus it explains a number of (past?) events.

Gameplay wise, the combat is fluid and entertaining. It is a hack 'n slash heaven that can be considered to be a mashup of God of War and Devil May Cry. The game also features a deep looting and inventory system that is perfectly balanced between depth and the sheer amount of stats. One could say that the game is a "mature" Zelda title.

The game is a work of art! The art direction is simply one of the best of its genre.

Sadly, the game has some issues, from the technical aspect, you have a complete lack of graphical customization, and from the gameplay perspective, *SPOILERS* a very disappointing final boss battle. *END SPOILERS*

*Special note: Death's voice is just so badass.

I cannot wait for a sequel and it's one of my *many* favorite games :)

Words cannot describe the sheer epicness of this game.

The campaign's story is centered around Jason Brody and his friends who get lost and then kidnapped in the fictional Rook Island between the Indian and Pacific oceans.
The story is well-done and the scope of the islands is amazing. There are many collectibles to collect such as relics and memory cards and they will surely add up more gameplay hours.
Gameplay is smooth and can be split into 2 parts: stealth, and utter chaos of great guns and 'splotions :)

The soundtrack and music in this game are very fitting and energetic; they breathe life into the world. As many reviewers and sites suggest, both the multiplayer and co-op modes feel tacked on and therefore are forgettable.
If you want to experience a great open world game with tight first-person combat and platforming in a survival-themed story, then this game is for you.

Sure, LeChuck's Revenge Monkey Island 2 is a 20+ year old game, but nonetheless, it is a point-&-click adventure classic with a fresh coat of paint that makes you itch to switch between the "old" style and the new just to see how far video games have progressed throughout the years. The story is wackier and the puzzles are more fun than The Secret of Monkey Island which itself was a masterpiece.

A classic game that never gets old.

It's the "Dark Souls" of 2D runners.
*EDIT* 4 years later and I am still stuck on the final level.
*EDIT 2* Another 4 years have passed... still stuck on the final level

Darksiders has great action, huge set peices and an interesting story, but a few frustrating puzzles and somewhat poor pacing hurt the game so much. The lack of graphical options and settings don't help at all. Even with all its problems, it's still a nice game.
