The game is absolutely wonderful. It's a massive improvement on their previous game (Pathfinder: Kingsmaker) on pretty much every aspect and that game was already pretty good. The story is great, the companions are flavourful, the systems are deep and engaging and the mythical paths allow for an unusual amount of flexibility and power fantasy not often seen in these kind of games.

There are bugs. Mostly smaller ones (like some descriptions missing from items) or occasionally something requiring a reboot of the game. However, there are some bigger ones as well, although the devs have been really active in trying to get them all fixed. A bunch of patches have been released so far to help with that. In addition to that, it should be noted that some people (like myself) have barely ran into any bugs whatsoever and some people seem to have had less luck. The experiences vary drastically but you may very well never notice any real bugs in your playthrough.

I absolutely love the game and can't recommend it enough. But, if you're sensitive to bugs, you may wish to wait a bit longer to have the majority of them solved.

Edit: now that I've played through the entire game (multiple times) I can safely say this is the best game of the year for me and probably among the best games I've ever played. The devs are releasing (free!) DLC as well, which is awesome. I'm excited for the future of this game!

Please disregard my playtime, I've played over 80 hours in the beta so far.

This game is something else entirely. It's an entirely free game with some optional puchasable content. There is so, SO much to explore, so many things to do, so many choices to make. There are relationships to build, places to discover, enemies to encounter, secrets hidden all over the world. I mentioned I've played for over 80 hours, but despite that, I've barely scratched the surface of the game. I've played on different characters and had fairly different experiences on all of them.

This game offers a lot of freedom, different systems and a lot of different options, with RPG style choices based on your stats and skills. You can see how likely you are to succeed, even if the RNG will surely hate you sometimes. Still, failing can bring new content, rewards and discoveries as well. The game in general won't hold its punches. It's hard and has no mercy on you when you are already struggling. You can be doing quite well, and an unexpected series of events can knock you right down. Or you can find a lucky treasure and suddenly be in a lot better position. The beginning especially can be kinda rough: but don't give up, help is coming. Once you're somewhat established you'll find it's a lot easier to stabilize and explore.

Special mention to the dev: always listening to feedback, interacts a LOT with the players, is always willing to help. I've seen a lot of things get improved based on community feedback (there is a really nice Discord community where people talk, help each other and provide feedback).

The game is free, so I recommend giving it a shot and to give it at least a few hours if you can to see if it's your cup of tea. It's really an amazing game that was clearly crafted with love and respect. I've really been impressed by both the game and the dev.

This is a surprisingly good roguelike. There are loads of things (classes, races, skills, cosmetic options etc.) to unlock simply by playing the game, loads of very different classes which al have different ways of playing. The game is difficult, but you can choose whether it's classic roguelike (permadeath), if you start with multiple lives, or if you can continue as often as you'd like. Additionally, you get a warning if you enter an area which is way too difficult or easy for your current level. However, there's always the chance of a nasty surprise if you decide to open a sealed off door.. There is a lot of really strong loot to find and secrets to discover. Not everything happens in every run, so you have to keep your eyes open. There's also a lot of really nice QoL additions that I'm surprised other games haven't been copying, such as a really neat way of managing loot.

Ultimately, I'd highly recommend Tales of Maj'Eyal as well as its DLC and many years later it's still holding up very well. It's a hidden gem which you can spend loads of time on without running out of stuff to do.

Beat Hazard is a nice game to pick up when you're bored and just want to play something casually. The addition of music (and especially, your own music) is very nice and something I enjoy in games - but I can't really say I notice a whole lot of differences depending on the songs I pick.

The game is not too difficult (although it can be challenging), the visuals are a bit overkill in the sense that you can probably get seizures just by playing it, and the perks offer you something to keep chasing and to keep getting stronger. Being limited in actually using them is however a bit of a letdown for me.

Having to create badges in other to unlock new ships is not something I personally enjoy, but might be worth something to people who are into the Steam Trading Cards.

Overall, I'd recommend the game, especially for the price.
