Dune: Awakening: Looks Great, Plays... Not So Great
Let's be clear, Dune: Awakening absolutely nails the presentation. The graphics are stunning, the world feels incredibly real and lived-in, and the sound design is top-notch. If you just want to look at a beautiful rendition of Arrakis and hear its ambiance, you'll like this game.

Repetitive Gameplay and Clunky Systems
Once you start playing, though, things go downhill fast. The "story" is basically just a string of repetitive fetch quests. You'll go back to the same locations over and over, doing pretty much the same thing. It gets old incredibly quickly. On top of that, the user interface is just clunky and counter-intuitive. Simple tasks feel harder than they should, and navigating menus is a chore.

Building is another frustrating experience. It feels limited and fighting the mechanics to place things is a pain. And the enemies are basically all the same from start to finish, just with higher health and damage as you progress. There's no real variety, just bigger sponges to hit.

The End-Game: A Grind Too Far
But the real deal-breaker is the end-game. The grind for better gear becomes absolutely insane. It's not just a little grindy; it demands an unreasonable amount of your time. And to get the best equipment, you're practically forced into PvP zones in the Deep Desert. While you technically don't have to go there, the alternative grind for similar gear outside of PvP would take an astronomical amount of time. So, you're pushed into a PvP environment that, predictably, is really toxic.

Adding to the frustration, flying back and forth across the Deep Desert map for essential resources like spice and titanium is incredibly time-consuming and tedious. It quickly turns what should be an exciting endgame into a monotonous chore.

Skip This, Play Valheim Instead
If you're looking for a relaxing survival crafting game where you can sink hours in without feeling constantly frustrated, play Valheim. Dune: Awakening might look and sound amazing, but its repetitive core gameplay, clunky systems, and a truly terrible end-game ultimately make it a hard pass. It's a shame, because the potential was clearly there.

Early Access Review
Free to play gimmicks everywhere! Let me quit when I want to quit. Don't put the coins in a separate area than the cards on the off chance that I might buy more. Some characters are better than others and you guessed it, you have to buy them...
