Would be a great game, but not with the peer-to-peer multiplayer and this price. Too little content for too much money and unstable multiplayer.

To be fair, the game is beautiful, the maps are incredibly detailed, there is just too few of them. Like 3 per gamemode few. And there are 2 real gamemodes really, Conquest type area capturing and Deathmatch. The other gamemodes are just Deathmatch with fewer and fewer players per team. I guess capture the flag or Team Fortress 2 style payload would be too hard to implement.

The combat system is fun, easy to get into, but tough to master. Just like you would assume. But I can see that it could get repetitive and boring after a few weeks of playing, however I'm not the type of guy who gets addicted to games. For others, For Honor's combat system might provide entertainment for months and months.

Characters are well balanced, there is everything between tank and glass cannon, every playstyle is represented. Customization is really in-depth, very nice to see a system like this.

Optimization is superb, runs great on Core i5-2300 and GTX 960 with 12Gb RAM.

As you can probably tell, I tried really hard to like this game.

But the P2P multiplayer ♥♥♥♥♥ everything up. P2P in a freakin game where reaction time is crucial? If For Honor was an online chess game, it would be perfect, but here, it just ♥♥♥♥♥ you over. Solely because Ubisoft was too greedy to buy some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ servers. Shameful. People teleporting all over the place like this is Portal 2 with swords and axes, and the occasional naginata. And when the host gets bored and quits, the whole match just hangs for 15-30 seconds while the game finds a new host. Terrible.

As for the lack of content, I'm on the fence, because the maps are incredibly detailed, and can be tactical, but they are small and there's only a handful of them. And because of this, they get real boring real fast. 95% of my dominion matches were in the same Viking fort where there were 3 capture points 30m away from each other. For real? The only things dividing point C and point B were two narrow staircases facing the spawn points of the teams. Now I can see that the developers kept the maps small because they wanted to keep the emphasis on combat, so players can get right back into the action if they died or immediately can see their next target if they just killed someone.

However. Maps this size and number in a 60 dollar/euro game is not justifiable. Just not.

This game is definitely not worth the price. The love and care the devs put into it is visible, but it just stinks of Ubisoft. A full 60 dollar/euro price for half a game, with no dedicated servers? And paid DLC to get the rest of the game? 100 dollars/euros for the game with the season pass? Hell no. Burning that money to heat up your house would be a better investment. Oh, and there's an in-game shop that is ripe to become a cash shop down the line. Unbelievable.

Free-to-play: 12/10
20$: 10/10
30$: 8/10
60$: 4/10

I'm sorry. I wanted this to be great. But in its current form, it is not.

Edit: Since yesterday evening, my connection problems went away. During 5 hours of play, I only had 1 host disconnecting and the game locking up. Much smoother experience despite the P2P system. If they doubled the amount of maps in the base game instead of giving them to us in the form of paid DLC, I would not hesitate to recommend this game. The combat is just so much fun.
