Just say no to paid mods. This is an amazing game, but if Steam is gonna go the paid mod route, I'd recommend buying it on Amazon or GameStop's website and then going to the Mods Nexus to get your mods.

Come on Valve. You used to be the best, and now you're just becoming EA. If you want to support modders make a donate button.

I bought this game on a whim when it was on sale for a couple bucks. So very glad I did. While you'll need to get one of the other Guild II games for the tutorials, once you master the basics you will have a blast with this one. Granted, there are lots of bugs and other little things that need fixing, but there are a crap ton of mods out there for that. Considering the price, you absolutely shouldn't pass this one up if you're a fan of games like Sim City, Stronghold, or any first person RPG out there.

Really short considering the price, but definitely one of the more innovative games I've played. Also one of the most creepy. They did an amazing job with the atmosphere here.

I have tried to like this game. I really have. But it is one of my biggest early access regrets.

The AI is simply awful. The settlers are complete idiots, and will not do simple things like build food planters to help themselves survive. Instead they will wander in circles and grab their stomachs, wondering why they are so hungry. They won't build beds, but then they'll wander around random rooms until they die of exhaustion. It's stupid. The chickens are more intelligent than the settlers ffs. The devs either need to vastly improve the AI, or add in a way to control or at least prod settlers to do what they need to be doing. I understand the whole "early access" concept, but this is like one of the basic premises of the game. If the settlers can't even stay alive on their own for an hour, why the **** am I playing?

I wrote a review of this a long time back, when it was more or less a demo at full price. I didn't recommend it back then, but someone on the dev team commented asking me to try the game again and do another review. Well, here you go random guy. The game is still bad, I still don't recommend it, and thank goodness for games like The Forest, Subnautica, and Project Zomboid, or I'd have completely lost faith in the EA concept.

I cannot recommend this game enough. For an alpha, it's amazing. I can't wait to see what these guys do with it in the future. The only critique I have (aside from typical alpha bug complaints), is that there is no tutorial and the controls will take a bit to get used to. Luckily, between the Steam and Indie Stone forums, you have all the info you need.
