More than three years later, Resident Evil 2 remains the blueprint for any developer looking to remake a classic title. Successfully modernising the 1998 survival horror game for fans and newcomers, there's no doubting its sustained quality.

I hadn’t played the original Resident Evil 2 since its release 20 years ago and only remembered the broadest of strokes.
I knew it largely took place in a police station, the lickers were introduced, and the giant spiders in the sewers were a nightmare.
If a similar amount of time has passed for you, or if you’ve never played it, it might not be apparent what an enormous improvement this remake is unless you look at it side by side with the original.

Crucially, inventory and ammunition management is still a key part of Resident Evil 2 gameplay.
This is real survival horror, where it always seems like you’re just barely scraping by with enough ammo and healing items. You can’t carry everything you find with you, so what you should store and what you should carry is a battle constantly being waged in your mind.
Those quality-of-life improvements I mentioned include automatically updating your maps to let you know if a room has been cleared of items or if you missed something, frequent and unlimited save points, and freedom from the infamous barrage of loading screens.
All of those are very much appreciated when exploring Raccoon City.

Tension has been elevated by the excellent sound design.
Very little music accompanies gameplay, which leaves plenty of room for creaking doors, thunder and rain, the moans of the undead somewhere just out of sight, and heavy footsteps of something sinister in the next room over.
Capcom did a fantastic job of resurrecting all the best parts of the classic Resident Evil 2 and making them look, sound, and play like a 2019 game.
If you’re of the mind that the series had lost its way for a while there, this game is very much a return to form. The zombie combat is satisfying and exploring the dilapidated ruins of Raccoon City is a thrill.

This is one of the best Resident Evil games to come out so far. I’ve been a huge fan of the RE games.
Resident Evil 2 remake certainly gets you pumped up. It is a classic throwback to older Re games and has a that same amount of soul as Re1 remake.
I’m really glad they enhanced everything, even the over the shoulder gameplay.
The graphics, gameplay and everything else plays really great.

What I really loved is how each play through you’ll have to carefully manage your inventory.
The puzzles are some of the best and while you can get stacked on a few, you’ll feel highly rewarded when you finally achieve that puzzle or solve it. You can run out of useful items quickly.
The more I played, the more I was able to find strategies on how to conserve ammo for a big boss fight.
The zombies are some of the best and scariest ones I’ve seen in games. They're noises are well done and highly spooky.
Re2 remake gives you a sense of dread and fear when being stalked by him. It does really spice things up when running away from the boss.
Ultimately it is a great game and I highly recommend it.

Back 4 Blood
PC(Steam) | 60+ Hours
[Last Update: 13 March 2023]

I came to love its glorious white-knuckle tone, clever card-based progression, and varied, fist-pump-worthy campaign. An awkward difficulty curve and a stale versus mode prevent Back 4 Blood from moving into a full-blown sprint, but it still provides an exciting mix of new and old ideas as you mow down shambling legions of the undead.

The gunplay feels pretty damn good, its easy to get used to it and with the settings you can find your tune! Back 4 Blood follows a community of survivors trying not to get their jugulars torn out before breakfast. This isn't a plot you'll get deeply invested in, as it's just a series of thinly-veiled excuses to shoot zombies with friends, but that's all the justification the four-act campaign needs. Despite dire circumstances, it's actually a pretty lighthearted romp, with 12 "Cleaner" characters frequently cracking jokes amid impending doom.

Levels have good variation for launch, the level based story is the classic Left 4 Dead style, makes sense, its simple to understand BUT the fact that character dialogues change based on who's in the team for the game its really interesting and just makes you question how much backstory and maybe hints at future plans there are! Nice options for more challenging difficulties too!

There’s many characters that they pulled off having their own style, moods and looks! There's one for everyone, fun, serious, crazy and weird, all to love!

Swarm i haven't played much yet, but now that I got decks and somewhat strategy is pretty fun, but only thing about it not really right for me is the matchmaking which 90% of the times a team as a WAY larger skill gap than the other, this makes often to see people quitting early or just not fun games (too hard or too easy), when you finally get a game in the between or playing with friends in private match its where its fun!

That surprisingly pleasant attitude pervades combat in Back 4 Blood as well. All too often, I found myself grinning over utterly absurd sights, like Sleeper Ridden sitting comfortably in meaty wall-mounted cocoons suddenly springing to life then pinning a teammate to the floor. Or hucking frag grenades into a crowd of living dead only to have the ensuing sinew-showers drench friends. Laughs aside, the gunplay has quite a satisfying kick too.

If you still haven’t joined Back 4 Blood but still having doubts, i can absolutely say that with a sale (since they are common) + annual pass you’ll now get the best experience of this game! (Even better with friends!) Looking forward to what’s next (hopefully) for Back 4 Blood.
