Significantly better than the first, which was already decent. A surprisingly long mod with a pretty graceful mixture of elements from HL2, the HL2 beta, HL1, and even HL: Alyx. The story handles things with a different method than the traditional Valve way of doing things, but is executed quite well. If you found Hunt Down the Freeman to be wasted potential, you should really give this mod your time.

The scale and intensity of some of the fights in E:Z2 are more in the style of a game like Halo, with friendly and enemy AI fighting in complex, large situations. The work done with the NPCs in general adds a lot of variety to the combat, with redone Combine and Rebel AI giving them a lot more capability for interesting combat. The brand new enemies help a lot too, with some fun surprises I won't spoil here.

Combat has been rebalanced dramatically, with the player being squisher than the average HL2 experience, but their weapons buffed up significantly to compensate. The result is a fast paced, brutal experience that encourages you to be aggressive and destroy the enemy before they can do the same to you. It plays more akin to a Monolith shooter like Blood or F.E.A.R. than HL2 now, which is a positive change in my book.

Lastly, I have to give some love to the presentation. The graphics are quite nice for Source, with excellent lighting and custom assets, and the level of environmental variety is impressive. Plenty of places to blast rebels in, and some nice tunes to do it to. Shoutout to the cutscenes and setpieces that are quite elaborately detailed for just a Source mod, and just as memorable as anything from Valve themselves.

tl;dr this thing is among the best mods for the entire HL series and is extremely worthy of your time.

Honestly, this game is trash anyways, but I'll jump on the bandwagon. Censorship is wrong.
