So you wana know if you should get into Destiny or not??

Well as a I am a Destiny player since D1 Beta back in 2014, accumulating over 3,000 hours across Destiny 1 + 2, across Xbox and PC, here is my honest opinion.

There is no other game like Destiny, literally, no game exists similar to Destiny! It is extremely unique, featuring an immersive story that has been continuously growing and expanding over the last 9 years now, every year we get a big new DLC and every 3 months a new season with brand new story and playable content. It has ability based and gun play mechanics you have never seen before, the amount of customization you can do to change your build and play-style is tremendous! As a single character (granted you have all of the DLC's) you have a wide variety of over 1500 weapons, 5 ability sub-classes and each class containing 2-3 different supers, various grenades, jump styles, etc.

It is a game that can be played completely solo, however I would recommend that you have a squad of 3 - 6 players to be able to play the game to its fullest, from doing a quick 10min strike to spending hours in Raids, if you are not into PvE then you have the Crucible and Gambit, a whole PvP or PvPvE playlist selection with the very competitive but rewarding Trials of Osiris tournament almost every weekend.

I can 100% guarantee you that if you are someone that enjoys killing thousands of small and big enemies, love to customize builds, obtain 1000's of loot, grinding for that God-roll then THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU!

Now to be realistic, yes it is a free to play game, but the free content is very limited, you have access to 3 Destiny 1 returning raids (Crota's end being the most recent), you have access to Strikes, Crucible, Gambit and some open world locations for exploration and questing. But you will very quickly run out of content, I give the free Destiny content roughly 10 hours of playtime, excluding repeating PvP and PvE playlists. Additionally there are 4 free events during the year; Dawning (Christmas/New Years), Guardian Games (May), Solstice (July-August) and Festival of the Lost (Halloween). Each event brings new armor and gear for all players.

Every year we get a big DLC in February, which has to be purchased, now you can either buy just the DLC and buy each seasonal battle pass and content individually or buy the DLC with an Annual Pass, giving you access to any and all content released throughout the year (my recommendation)!

Since Destiny 2 has released in 2017, so much has happened and the game has grown, in content and in file size, so unfortunately some content is no longer available. Here is a list of all released content in Destiny 2 in release order and which is still accessible or not:

Destiny 2 Base Game Story : Not accessible but referred to a lot.
Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris: Not accessible
Destiny 2 Warmind: Not accessible
Destiny 2 Forsaken (first major DLC): Not accessible, but you can buy the Forsaken weapons pack for some juicy gear
Destiny 2 Shadowkeep: Accessible (Can be bought individually or part of Legacy pack)
Destiny 2 Beyond Light: Accessible (Can be bought individually or part of Legacy pack)
Destiny 2 Witch Queen: Accessible (Can be bought individually or part of Legacy pack)
Destiny 2 Lightfall (Current active DLC): Accessible with this year's 4 seasons and seasonal content
Destiny 2 The Final Shap: To be released in Feb 2024, but can be pre-ordered with the next Annual Pass

Even though Destiny sometimes have its ups and downs, strong seasons, weaker seasons, the team at Bungie is constantly changing the game, bringing in new abilities, armor and weapons every single season. They are also changing the seasonal format in the next DLC, moving away from the 3 month seasonal content and battle-pass to a more story driven Story Acts throughout the year.

All is all, Destiny 2 has a fantastic and ever growing community, so many people like myself love to Sherpa Raids and Dungeons to help teach new players.

If you are ready to spend some money and grind for 100's of hours, you are in for a awesome experience!
