Following one of the worst seasons in D2, you get one of the worst expansions in D2. You get to play this expansion after probably finding out that almost every gun in your loadout has been sunsetted, your exotic from the last season has been disabled due to a PVP glitch, and you've lost all your triumph score. Almost every single thing in this expansion is only created to stretch out the already thin content Europa offers to an even thinner line, by making you manually ride across long, empty stretches of ice, use stasis multiple times before you actually obtain it in wave defenses for no reason, forcing you to grind to the new light level to play the content, putting you against bosses that use stasis and can freeze you, using the same 2 locations over and over again for every single story mission, or repeating the Nightmare Hunts system from Shadowkeep, now renamed Empire Hunts. Too bad you can't go back and play most of the things you liked because they decided to vault them, ruin them with unbalanced guns and classes, or replace them with only a handful of new activities and a handful of glitches.

Started the game and had to wait about 20-30 minutes for the game to "optimize" and then proceed to have multiple FPS dips besides the "optimization"

As for what I've played of the game, the combat is dull and the characters suffer from Nathan Drake syndrome - having to explain every single thing that's going on in front of them and what's in the environment. Child Aloy falls in a cave and goes, "Whoa, this must be a cave!" or sees her father on the rocks and goes, "That must be father up there, what's he doing??" Like someone accidentally copy-pasted the closed captioning for the hearing/sight impaired on top of the game's script.

The fact that Death Stranding came out only a month or two ago and is on the same exact engine, and runs better is absolutely embarrassing for this port.

It's alright if you get it on sale - it's a mixture between Exit the Gungeon (without the constant random guns,) and Binding of Isaac. The art style is pretty generic and there's no variety in the appearance of the rooms, most of the guns are useless since their "actives" which require crystals to use will end up being obtained via items or they fire too slow/too spread out. The items don't really do anything outlandish, most of them being references to movies, comics, games, etc. and fall into the category of increasing your RoF/damage/velocity/range, making you fly, or giving you infinite items. Some of the bosses were trivially easy for me and just involve standing in the middle of the room like and moving back and forth like Remington/Colt, or run-stopping like Hal. This isn't a roguelike you'll be sinking tens or hundreds of hours into - you'll probably finish your experience with the game 13-20 hours in.

I never completed the Campaign on the original XBOX, but looking at it 19 years later it's honestly boring as ♥♥♥♥; enemies feel copy-pasted in some areas, levels are too open-ended and big for their own good causing you to wander around before realizing that progression in some obscured hole or alcove, levels will just repeat the same areas over and over again to pad out the mission, and enemies just take too many shots. It has not aged well at all for solo.

The remastered graphics look worse in some areas, with shadows missing and invisible collision causing your shots to hit objects instead of the enemies behind them.

Similar to Slay the Spire, but a bit more going on with characters who have random appearances and personalities; compared to the gameplay of Spire, there's a lot more freedom and leeway on your deck rather than having to optimize your deck completely like you have to do in Spire. While I did beat the game on my first run, there's prestige levels that make the game harder and a brawl mode that is just pure fighting without the story. My only complaint is that the second character, Rook, is a bit lacking in powerful cards besides the specialized card he gets at the beginning of the game.

They've definitely improved the game since the last time I played it during launch; there are some issues like the endgame being bare bones and a wall you're going to end up hitting where you simply run out of interesting quests to do for the moment, but overall I've enjoyed my time exploring Appalachia with the light survival gameplay more than the Commonwealth in Fallout 4. If you're not immediately looking for something to solve your Fallout fix, I'd pick it up on sale.

Despite being in early access, this game already has a ton of secrets to figure out and unique physics gameplay that might bring back memories of experimenting in the Falling Sand flash games years ago. Each wand has its own properties that might help you (or sabotage you,) on your runs.
