What an absolutely fantastic little gem of a game.
It's a simple enough concept; passengers add up at stations, you then send a train through to clear those passengers. Each train you send costs points, and picking up passengers will earn you points, you don't want trains running with space when they leave the map, but equally you don't want trains to be filling up at the start of the map. You could probably leave the game running at the start of the 'level' and just let it build up with passengers and then spam send trains through closer to the end but ultimately you'd only be cheating yourself by doing that so why would you.
The game very simple at the start, when you may have a local (all stops) and a limited express (skip stop) and you can get away with just sending a local train but the game steadily increases in difficulty with each new map, with some maps featuring Shinkansen as well as local, and express trains.
Most of the game is in numbers, or images (pictograms) so translations aren't really needed, but where the game has been translated into English it has been done fairly well and is easy enough to understand.

You could probably run this on a toaster tbh, I've not experienced any issues, and it would likely be good to play on a touch based system too with how the game is designed

Flashbacks to noob tubes and akimbo 1887s. Still fun, still typical CoD, the price isn't the same as it used to be though :(

Incredibly fun, games are quick so if you do get knocked out you can be straight into a new game within 30 seconds. Don't take it too seriously, and just have fun.
It can be a lil repetitive, but the devs seem invested and like they want to keep the content fresh. It'll be worth checking recent reviews/community hub discussions to see if they have added new stages though, as at time of writing they've only said they will add.
It's also the only Battle Royale style game that I can win at.

As with most VR rhythm games this will be compared to Beat Saber. Having played Beat Saber too I would say this is more fun and definitely provides more of a challenge. Beat Saber is more about drumming and doesn't really require too much active movement other than your arms. In Synth Riders you'll be a lot more active, moving around in a dancing style with the music, you aren't slashing at the orbs (as you would in Beat Saber) which provides for more of a flow and it helps you get into a bit more of a groove imo. The included songs are passable, and definitely show the game off but they certainly aren't anything to write home about, however the modding side of this game is significantly better with official mod tools meaning custom maps etc are generally pretty fantastic. The developer also seems to be a lot more active within the community. I paid £11 (~$15) during a sale and can easily say it was a worthy investment, my new favourite VR game

I've driven the whole route and these are my thoughts.

What's Bad?
Firstly, the whole world just seems dead. There's no ambient noise, and there is very very little in other trains passing by - I ran the whole route (approx. 90 minutes) and passed 3 other trains, 1 of them was at the start of the game. For a major S-Bahn route it seems like everyone has packed up and left the area leaving just a handful of people behind.

Secondly, there is no sway/sense of speed to the train either. A 160km/h run and there was nothing that gave me a sense of speed. GWE had that feel with minor sway, but there is nothing her, it feels like we've gone back to Railworks phsyics in this regard (not even Train Sim 17/18).

The level of detail is really well done, however there is one section that completely lacks any overhead equipment whatsoever. At certain parts of the map it also seems like DTG (the developers) simply got bored, a lot of assets are re-used, now this isn't normally a problem and I'd overlook it but it's impossible to overlook when you've driven past the same factory with the same colour and same loading bays every 2 minutes. Mixing it up and having some of the factories just plain grey would be better.

This last point is a weird one, but the seats fall out of place in quite a spectacular fashion. I've never seen anything quite like it, at the start of driving the train it looked fine (seats were correct etc.), but as time went on I noticed the seats getting more and more out of sync. At the end of the journey I walked through and grabbed some screenshots.

What's Good?
The route is very nicely made. There's quite a lot of detail especially in the more urban areas, but as mentioned they've also seemingly got bored and just skipped over some parts without taking the same amount of care and attention.

The train is also incredibly well made and the detail is fantastic, again however it does have it's issues as mentioned above.

It's a German S-Bahn route and has electric stock. A first for TSW so it's nice to see.

Overall?

Overall, do I recommend Rapid Transit for TSW? No, at least not in it's current state. The route is boring due to the lack of life in the world - this is something that could be fixed with custom scenarios once we get to that stage. The bugs are just weird and should have been picked up on in testing. And the amount of pop in is just crazy, three gantries ahead must pop in, I'm running Ultra settings getting around 50-90fps.

The route is well detailed, and has quite a bit of potential. Unfortunately, it's once again another step back for DTG. With GWE (it had it's bugs but nothing game breaking/enjoyment breaking for me) my hope that TSW would be a really solid platform for the future of Train Sims went up. With this it's gone back down again.

However, with all that being said, if you can pick it up for £10-15 like I did then sure go ahead. But make sure you have the Great Western Express expansion first.

I absolutely adore this game. It's great to just listen to some music and chill playing in the endless mode - normal mode gets quite stressful for me and I prefer not to be on the verge of game over. I also own this on IOS which is where most of my hours probably are and it's just as good on there.

The debs are still supporting the game, 2 years on too which is absolutely outstanding and they listen to feedback you give them - I had an issue on iOS, I got a reply an hour or so later and they fixed it.

Highly recommended, the amount of hours I've gotten out of this game is tremendous. It passes the time incredibly well, especially on flights.

I'd definitely suggest just diving into the game and figuring it all out yourself (it's pretty basic, especially in endless mode with no failure state), but there are some great guides in the Steam Community and the discussions are also pretty good, but if you do get really stuck the devs are always there which is something I really like.

Buy this game! It's amazing.

This is a full release that should be treated as an Early Access game. The game is still unoptimised (my PC specs are in my profile) and I'm running on average 25-40fps. There is 1 map, with 3 trains. You can't create your own scenarios, you can't even create your own consists. Another thing, with the only route being a freight route you have limited scope. Once you've driven the route, you've driven it. There is very little replayability and unless you're into North American Freight Operations this really isn't a good start.

For the fact that this game feels like an Early Access title I can't recommend it. The game is being built on the premise of new features upcoming in the future, but there's been nothing about these new features. In fact, the only news is that we got some new skins, and they have tried to improve performance (lol, they haven't). The fact that there is zero replayability is another issue. My favourite route from Train Simulator is South London Network simply for the fact it had both Metro operations, longer distance operations, and freight operations. There is loads to do, and loads of replayability. With Train Sim World once you've done the route once, there's zero reason to go back to it. I'm also 99.9% sure that Dovetail Games like to ignore their testers, but I'll keep that to myself for now :)

If this was in Early Access would I recommend it? Yes, if you're into American Freight and don't mind a poor frame rate - the game looks nice, and the features are nice -, but otherwise no

Update 23/11/2017:

I still do not recommend this game, however the DLC (GWR Express) is absolutely fantastic. It's not without it's issues but it's definitely a much better playing experience than CSX Heavy Haul. My suggestion would be, only buy this if you are buying the GWR DLC.
