This game had a strong start, but failed to retain it.

Within 3 weeks of release, there was an announcement that a shop would be added to the game allowing users to buy items using a new in-game currency only obtainable using real life money. The incredibly convenient timing to do this after both the reviews were in and the refund policy was up for those who bought it within a week of launch is the main gripe I have with this. If it was at least part of the game from day 1 and mentioned on the store page or in trailers, I'd have less of an issue with it as because then I'd either completely avoid or wait to see if maybe it was a business model I saw worth buying in to.

Just after 2 months after release, there was another announcement that a battle pass system would be added, where one of the items was a plain white sphere equipable as an accessory. If that wasn't bad enough, the parts of the update which actually altered the content of the game caused fighting game breaking issues like walls not breaking.

Other than this, there's a consistent issue related to pluggers in the game which has been a thing since the beginning. Unlike a game like MK1 where someone plugging would result in a loss for the person plugging and a win for the other person, Tekken 8 has taken a different approach where no one loses or wins the match. Around a month after release, pluggers were being banned from the game, but the issue of the victim of the plugger not being awarded a win still persisted. Even so, I believe that banning people for plugging is insane.

I can't help but think that if the developer's resources was being poured into what players were asking for rather than two monetisation systems, the game would be in a better state.

So yes, other than the strong start, the only thing this game did right was teach me not to buy games until at least a month after release. Certainly a more extreme lesson than not pre-ordering like No Man's Sky taught me...

(One thing to note, I am not interested in wasting my time playing games as a service where the base game is free, so there's no way (unless the content was special) I would be interested in that where the game is paid for).

Would crash after exactly 23 minutes of playing, even in the pause menu. And it goes through UPlay meaning you have to install that and then you get both the steam overlay and the UPlay overlay at the same time. Plus the multiplayer doesn't work because it isn't supported by the current version of UPlay. Multiplayer works if you install an older version, but who cares about multiplayer?

I can't wait for the Fortnite Rocket League crossover...

I always knew the dabbing grim reaper goal explosion was a bad sign

Early Access Review
You know how you see those tech demos of water physics and object/terrain deformation? Imagine that but with really fun and flexible game mechanics. This is what this is and I absolutely love it. There aren't too many levels at the moment but as you progress futher, they get significantly longer. More official levels are to be added plus Steam Workshop levels so content is pretty much ever growing. Can't wait to see what else can be achived over its time in early access. Speaking of early access, this doesn't feel like it's in early access as I encountered no bugs and very little problems. One problem seems to be the camera glitching through walls but this rarely happens and is made up for by the game itself.
