Amber Isle is a fantastic and adorable little mix of Animal Crossing and Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. It's been patched up decently since release. There are still some bugs, but the small dev team is working hard on addressing them. Despite the bugs, I've had a great time with the game.

The writing and character designs are leagues ahead of Animal Crossing. I also find the gameplay loop a lot more enjoyable. I found myself being excited to unlock new regions just to meet all the new paleofolk and see how they adapted a different type of dinosaur or other extinct creature into their adorable artstyle. They all have their own fun little personalities that I really enjoy too.

The main goals are to unlock all of the regions, befriend all of the paleofolk, and making the shop the best it can be. All of these are fun! There are story beats along the way to motivate you.

Overall, I really enjoyed (and am still enjoying!) Amber Isle and I recommend it if it at all looks like something that might appeal to you.

A genuine hidden gem that never received the recognition it deserved. It's challenging but never completely unfair. Your skills build as you play and what was once scary, or even looked impossible, becomes very doable. The secrets are fun extra challenges, though a bit too obscure to find and some require a guide if you want to get them all.

Give it a go!

INK is a fun, simple, and short little 2D platformer with a creative mechanic. The level is initially only partially revealed to you. As you move, double jump, kill enemies, and die, you spray ink all around you that reveals more of the level to you. Simple enough, but fun nonetheless.

Pros:
✅ - Moving is fun. Very important for a platformer..
✅ - The ink gimmick is fun to play with, and it's enjoyable to reveal more of the level.
✅ - The levels, while often difficult, are short. Completing levels can feel genuinely rewarding and it's not usually too frustrating.
✅ - The hidden collectibles are fun to collect.
✅ - An optional timed mode is included but not forced on you. It even lets you quickly retry a level if you didn't get a time you are satisfied with. Fun for speedrunners.

Nitpicks:
➖ - While the hidden collectibles are fun to collect and not required, you have to reveal them with ink just like everything else. While it can be fun to find them on your own, the game has 75 levels with no indicator of which levels have a secret. Your options are to look up a guide or go through every level in the game searching for something that may not be there if you want them all. Use a guide.
➖ - If you care about achievements, there are 3 that are brutally difficult/extremely tedious to get. Requiring beating each of the games 3 "worlds" of 25 levels without dying even once. In a game where levels are initially hidden, and often full of things that can kill you, including homing missiles. There's also a 4th one for 100%'ing the game, but I got it by just launching the game again after getting every achievement but those brutal 3.

I couldn't think of any real cons, so I labelled what I didn't like appropriately as the nitpicks that they are. Overall, INK is a fun little game that is priced appropriately. Would recommend!

Oh boy, where do I start with this one? Permute is a very, very bare-bones 3D platformer with a speedrunning focus. While it is a simple and short game, it has many issues, some of which are very difficult to overlook.

Pros:
✅ - Once you get the hang of the controls, it can be fun to try and speedrun the levels.
✅ - The music is nice. It's very chill, which doesn't feel like it fits a speedrunning game, but I liked it regardless. There is very little music, however.

Cons:
❌ - The game will crash and close out every time it's booted up. I had to reduce the graphics to the minimum to get it to boot. It took a lot of fiddling with the booting options until I found what would work.
❌ - There are only two options: disabling music and mouse sensitivity. The former option does not work, and will not save.
❌ - The levels are very similar to one another and you'll end up feeling like you're playing the same level again. This game only has 10 levels, but they still feel repetitive.
❌ - You are required to sprint to play this game. Which would not be a problem, but every time you die, you'll stop sprinting even if you keep holding the button. It makes re-attempting the level feel clunky. You can't just jump right back in. You'll be back to walking and unable to progress unless you remember to fix it every time.

It will take you about 30 minutes to beat the game and collect all of the achievements (Which are awarded just for beating the levels of the game). As it stands, I can't recommend spending the money or the time on this one.

It's not the worst game ever, and you can find some enjoyment in it, but it's a very bare-bones game that could have been made in less than a day, and it shows. I do not feel like this game should cost money. It feels like a quick student project that only did the minimum required to make a game. I would like to see the developer try harder and make a more complete game in the future.

Fall Guys is an excellent game, and perhaps the most unique battle royale out there. You can treat it far more casually than the average competitive game, or you can go all in and crush the dreams of the random jellybeans you get matched with. Either way, it's a fun time!

One of the best indie games on Steam.

Once again, a free content update from ConcernedApe has been released. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for developers like him that have genuine passion and care about the people that play their game.
