Tried this game on whim when a friend bought it for me as a gift (multiplayer hardly works btw) and earnestly this game is nothing special, the generic brand of any given game, but calling it as such would be unfair to generic brands.

I'll start with as a Pokemon fan if you go in under the assumption that this will be a Pokemon clone you will be sorely disappointed. The comparison to Pokemon is largely aesthetic but offers next to nothing of value to those looking for an experience like Pokemon with a twist and lacks the fundamentals of what makes a Pokemon game entertaining to begin with.

I think the best way to describe this game is that this would be the result of someone asking an AI to design a game, takes a million different mechanics and aspects from other games jamming them in without any other meaningful thought. Ignoring that many of the assets are just straight and obvious rips, the game is devoid of meaningful and interesting substance. I can not stress enough that seemingly anything you like about this game is not only from another game but done far more meaningfully in another title. The only real reason I feel compelled to write this review is due to the overwhelmingly positive public reception that is entirely unearned. If you still feel as though you need to play this game watch the gameplay for like 10 minutes and you'll likely have made up your mind on whether or not you'd like to play this game. If you then still decide that this game interests you, I urge you to introspect on what aspects you like about it and just play another game that does it better. Overall, it's been shallow lazy slop that takes the question, "What if Pokemon, but edgy?" fails to deliver and does no other thinking about the topic because someone else hasn't already done it for them.

Surprisingly replayable, innovative and very fun.
