tl,dr: Not bad, but play Exit 8 first and come back here if you want more and are ok with it being not as good.

While Exit 8 was focused on paying attention to see if anything is off this one focuses much more on avoiding deadly anomalies, which on its own is a good way to bring the same idea into a new game.

What makes Platform 8 fall behind Exit 8 is one major gameplay difference in particular:
The option to go back is no longer there, it is basically all about reaching the door ahead, the game also tells you when you need to find an anomaly before preceeding.
Some anomalies cannot be failes at all.

As a result there is much less opportunity to fall back to level 0, reducing the sense of accomplishment and the playtime.
I died only twice before reaching Platform 8:
- On the second Anomaly, because i thought i need to turn things back to normal instead of just moving on
- When i did realize too late that the anomaly was deadly
And another Time while completing everything:
- When i turned around to look out of curiosity, knowing that i should just proceed

While Exit 8 might have been too hard for some, Platform 8 is so easy that it falls behind despite being otherwise on par with Exit 8.
If you are interested you should play Exit 8 first.

The game combines the Bethesda Style with a Space Setting, Exploration of generated Planet Surfaces, Ship- and Basebuilding.
If you want that, it will work for you.

However, it completely fails when it comes to the ways to get from A to B,
in Space you are not meant to fly around in the current System, instead you select the Planet you want to travel to and boom you are there.
On Planets you have the opposite problem, you'll need to walk, run, jump and boostpack several hundred uneventful meters most of the time.
There is no reason for it to be that lackluster, since there are already decades full of gamereleases that handled that asprect better.

Early Access Review
This game is for everyone who likes crafting, cause it is exactly that.
Lacks variation and content atm, but this will hopefully change on its way out of "early access" to "release".

The weakest part of the entire game, you essentially chase after the boss enemy who does not even offer an interesting fight in the end, on top of that u get a darkness mechanic that does drain energy and with it the fun out of the combat mechanics.

Side missions totally lack creativity, especially if compared to the main game. Even the new weapon 'surge' goes to waste since it's much more difficult and much less fun to use.

The best part of it are the Arcade Cabinets, which allow u to do timer and survival based combat aswell as a rerun of the main game bosses and the ashtray maze.
The part that sparked my interest the most, the 'dimensional shift' u see in the first screenshot apparently does not even do anything.

Unless you are a completionist, you get it with the ultimate bundle or very cheap on its own you can skip this one.

While it's not as good as the main game it delivers some good mystery regarding the board, the cave-aestetic felt repetitive while the astral plane parts were nice. It is a mixed-bag that turns out decent overall.

If you think Control needed Caves with ground covered in red sand and 2 abilities that can only be used on specific spots it may even be awesome for you.
