I ran around with a guy for 30 minutes just to shoot him at extract, 10/10 would do this again.

I stopped playing this game because the A.I was ♥♥♥♥, last I heard is that they were working on it, that was after the full release.

1.5 years later and still 0 progress on that, but hey at least the constant removal of content is still going!

This is my first time actually playing a proper RTS that's not total war.

This game feels less about strategy and more about micro-management of mostly useless infantry until you give up. Then there’s the campaign. If you can even call it that. It plays like someone fed ChatGPT a stack of Tom Clancy novels and told it to make something "Serious". no save function. No mid-mission saves. In a game where battles can last 40+ minutes and half your losses come from your artillery driving into a forest and exploding for no reason.

helicopters hover like they’re drunk, AA feels so OP one toe out of line in a jet and I'm looking at my 50th stranded pilot filling up my UI.

All I wanted is a grounded, realistic RTS. I’ll take boring trench warfare over this. Give me long-range artillery duels, supply lines, units that don't break physics, and actual tactics. the developers should've focused more on PVE, It would've given newcomers who had their eye on the game for years like me a better experience..
It's obvious you're not getting a good or realistic experience online where everyone is cheesing and sweating...

Matchmaking is a mess, with an ELO system that feels completely broken, mirror matches still happening despite the option being ticked off, The inclusion of nukes is baffling, rampant cheating from chinese players with no visible anti-cheat in place.

Still runs like absolute ass, 0 updates yet as per the patch-logs. they preferred to tease a "NIGHT OPS!!!!!!!" Update rather than share hard-line data on performance optimization and gains they've been talking about.

Overpriced game when you already need to get 3 more people to get it.
Love the aesthetic, nothing else like it on the market sadly. but It's just too difficult and repetitive, doesn't keep you engaged.

This game has completely nuked its own identity. Its unrecognisable to the OG idea of this game. Watch literally any release gameplay and it seems like a comedy bit. Every player today is better equipped in 1896 than the average soldier was in the Korean War:
The "average" battle you will encounter in any 4+ star lobby will be cowboys running semi-automatic weapons (either the weapon itself is semi-automatic, or it is semi-automatic by fanning or levering), equipped with two modern fragmentation grenades and a healing syringe that would look out of place in BF 2042. Some players might even use a crossbow, which would make a Vietnam-era grenade launcher look outdated.

In addition, the game went from being a cowboy game with dark supernatural themes to a steampunk gothic game with a cowboy every 4 games. Not to mention the addition of Skill Based Matchmaking, which turned what was already an utterly stupid, comically non-competitive game into a sweaty tryhard shooter. The servers are also down and the engine sucks. It sucks!!!


Edit: Explosive crossbow/bows are gone, the new event is the best one so far and only minor bugs remain, this is the best state hunt showdown has ever been in since 1896 update.
