It's shallow but addicting.

It's a fun game where you find out what kind of jerks your friends can be

I've been playing this game since the mid-90s so I may be biased but it's so very gratifying to play. It's too bad no one makes proper RTS games anymore. EA killed Westwood studios and Blizzard only makes MOBAs.

Developers are abandoning the game. They aren't even giving players the option to host our own servers. I know I will never support a game by Daybreak Game Company again, nor any company that employs/partners with Jason Epstein (Exec. Chairman) or Ji Ham (CEO)

Oh yeah, this is super alpha as of June 21, 2018. Try back in a year or so. It's hardly more than an incomplete tech demo at this point. Also, not a racing game. It's a time trial/can-you-stay-on-the-track game (Antigravity Rallycross is actually a pretty good description). Any comparison to Wipeout is not apt. The controls are terrible, slow turning and top speed feels like 35 MPH no matter what the "speedometer" says. There is potential here (it's very pretty) but the developers should have waited until they had a more complete product before releasing on Steam, even for Early Access it's rough.

I had to return this game, and that makes me sad. It's exceptionally buggy. It kept crashing to the desktop after 20 minutes or so. It never autosaved my parks. It didn't even save my menu settings. I tried all the steps to resolve crashing issues but in the end I only had two hours to troubleshoot before my ability to return the game ended so I had to return it. It's really too bad because there was a lot to like. Although even without the constant crashing the camera system was counter intuitive and while the first person perspective while riding the rides was fun, you couldn't turn your head. Really, aside from a graphical overhaul and more rides this game doesn't really seem to innovate beyond the original Chris Sawyer RCT games. If you need more RCT (and who doesn't really?) then this will scratch that itch (assuming you can get it to work and get past the janky camera) but don't expect anything new.

EDIT: Responding to Gendarr: Unfortunatly I also found the support website to also be counter intuitive. After fighting to get to a place to look for troubleshooting steps and following them with no positive results I simply ran out of time. If the troubleshooting process takes longer than the time you can spend with the game before being able to return it then what can you do? It's a catch-22. Plus, having to create an account just to troubleshoot an issue. That's not customer friendly. I should know, I have an extensive history providing technical support. If Frontier had a stonger presence on Steam instead of pushing the customer to the website I might have had a better expereince, sadly that's not the case. I would like to try the game again. Maybe in a year or so I'll check back and see if there are patches that fix the issues I encountered. Again, I really wanted to like this game. It just seems unfinished.

This is THE best kart style racing game on PC, bar-none. Also, it's usually only $5 during sales. It works beautifually with the Stealink and it is the best version avalible with the possible exception of the WiiU special edition. The Steam verstion has a ton of extra characters though. The tracks are varied, beautiful and fun to play. The mechanics are solid and well balanced. This game is a staple that should be a part of every Steam account.

NOTE! Do NOT pay full price for this game, see edit below!

I was really worried this game was going to suck after reading all the user reviews on Steam. It doesn't though! It's a return to form for the DiRT series. I know a selection of very vocal people liked the simulation nature of the pre-Dirt 1 and DiRT Rally Codemaster games. This isn't that though, and that's great. This is more like DiRT 1 or DiRT 2. It's like pretending that mess that was DiRT 3 never happened, or at least the Ken Block and Social Media team aspect of it. No one has called me "dude" or told me to upload something to Youtube!! YAY!! Anyway, this game makes DiRT fun again. It's not a miserable abusive simulation and it's not a bunch of annoying Gymkata ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's just fun racing on dirt!

Also, this soundtrack is amazing! http://nfssoundtrack.com/dirt4/

EDIT: The more I play this game the more I fall out of love with it. The tracks are very limited. I'm feeling like I'm just playing the same track over and over again. There are only 3 tracks for Landrush. What's the point? And where the hell did Trailblazer go? The online is devoid of any players. Probably because you can't actually play against each other, it's only regular Rally. No Rallycross or Landrush. It's like they started out with a great game but by the time you hit 4 hours they ran out of content. That must explain the weird lack of DLC. I was wrong in my initial review, it's not a return to DiRT 2 it's a return to DiRT 1 and all the mistakes that were made with that game. Oh Codemasters, always being Paula Abdul. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. I'm keeping the positive review for now but that's mostly because I only paid $23 for it. I can now understand the anger of anyone who spent more than that.
