Despite its rocky start and it not being flawless Total War game (according to some), ROME II is still by far, THE most definitive game set in ancient/antiquity Rome to this date. Its beauty lies within (somewhat) historical accuracy of in-game units, without any "made up" stuff what-so-ever.

You can tell by THIS game promotional video that, Creative Assembly were quite passionate about this project, and did their best to make it as much authentic as possible. A real treat to ancient Rome enthusiasts and Romaboos alike, to say the least.

The biggest selling point of this game besides it being solid cRPG set in ancient Rome... Is the fact that Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus from HBO's Rome make a cameo apperance as playable characters.

Generally speaking... If you're into Rome stuff, Expeditions: Rome will surely please you. However, if you're a die-hard history fan on the other hand, then don't expect the game to be 100% historically accurate. Basically, its a fiction set in ancient Rome with your player character shaping it with the decisions you make.
