Not all Chinese players are cheating. But if you find one who's cheating, they're absolutely Chinese.

What an awesome game. The story, The beautiful scenery, the music all 10/10. Would kill to play this game for the first time again but in a deeper dive i would say ;

Road 96 is nothing short of a gaming masterpiece. The developers crafted a truly unique experience that stands out in the crowded world of narrative-driven games. From its thought-provoking storytelling to its brilliantly executed game play mechanics, Road 96 delivers a journey that resonates deeply, offering something fresh and innovative at every turn. This is a game that feels truly special, and it's easy to see why it deserves a perfect score of 10/10.

What truly sets Road 96 apart is how it combines procedural generation with meaningful, choice-driven gameplay. Each time you hit the road, the game generates a new set of characters, events, and locations, ensuring that your journey feels unique every time. It’s an adventure where every decision matters, whether it’s helping a fellow traveler or choosing to take a dangerous shortcut.
The gameplay loop is addictive. Managing resources like money, food, and gas is crucial, but it never feels like a chore. It’s a constant balancing act between survival and risk, where you have to weigh the consequences of your choices. Do you trust a stranger and take a risky detour, or do you play it safe? The emotional payoff from these decisions is what makes the game so compelling.

The characters you meet along the way are some of the most well-crafted in recent memory. Each one feels like a fully realized individual with their own backstory, personality, and goals. Whether you’re chatting with a kind-hearted truck driver or a rebellious punk, you can sense the depth of each character.

The art direction in Road 96 is a visual treat. The game blends a stylized, almost cartoonish aesthetic with a gritty, dystopian world, creating a perfect balance between hope and despair. The environments are varied and beautifully crafted, whether it’s a dusty highway, a small gas station, or a bustling town. The art gives the world a sense of place and mood, perfectly complementing the game’s narrative.
The soundtrack is equally fantastic. A mix of 80s and 90s-inspired synthwave, it’s the perfect soundtrack for a road trip through a world on the brink of collapse. The music not only enhances the atmosphere but reacts dynamically to the story, making every encounter feel more immersive. The voice acting is top-tier, with each character’s performance adding layers of authenticity to their story.

Road 96 is a triumph in every sense. It’s a game that takes risks, offering a truly unique blend of narrative depth, procedural gameplay, and emotional weight. It’s a game that challenges you, makes you think, and stays with you long after you’ve finished playing. With its incredible characters, unpredictable storylines, and a stunning visual and audio design, Road 96 proves that video games can be powerful, thought-provoking, and deeply personal experiences.

Great game, still really buggy but to be expected with early access. Gets repetitive after a while so i hope they add some more concepts down the line.
