Early Access Review
They didn't need to go so hard on a Touhou Slay the Spire clone- but they did, and I'm all for it.

I was somewhat wary of the price at first, being $5 more than Slay the Spire, but getting into it more, I realize the price is WELL deserved- even for 'Early Access', there's a lot of content, love, and thought put into the game and it shows.

Genuine recommendation for Touhou fans, roguelike card game/STS fans, or anyone curious about either of the two.

A pretty good game and a healthy direction in the 'continuous update' business model. So why is this a negative review? Well, it's because the past few updates have made this game SEVERELY unoptimized and I run the risk of overheating my CPU every time I play this game. What's ironic is that I upgraded my PC half a year ago just to be able to play this game and now I'm running into the same issue. So, although I think it's worth playing, I cannot bring myself to give a positive review until I start seeing some attention to optimization.

Highly recommend for those that love supporting indie devs- Mirage Feathers is a great game that you just know the devs put an intensive amount of care and love into when playing it. Near impossible to beat the entire story in one go without two small but critical upgrades to maintain HP/energy resources, but with those upgrades and a fundamental skill of bullet shooters/games, the game is a bit easy and short otherwise. I could definitely see myself playing this game a lot more and competing for the high score if this game's Endless mode had an functioning online leaderboards (so far as of writing this, the leaderboard is local score only, but I see in the Steam Discussions that it's in the works)

Even if you try excluding the memes/legacy, it's honestly the best game you can get during this Steam Capitalism and Economy sale, hands down.

Capitalism, HO!

I don't think I have any noteworthy things to say for a review but I heard there was a China Reviewbomb so I'm putting in my liked review to counteract.

It's a very well made love letter to both Japanese/eldritch folklore and just obscure Japanese media. Despite the title, I can't exactly call it a scary game that disturbs me (but maybe that's just my desensitized brain), but I'm glad the game doesn't try to hard-focus on that aspect when replayability is one of their heavy focuses. Instead, what I got from my experience was a resource focused turn-based game... which is actually my cup of tea. Considering the game is mostly made by one dentist developer in his free time, I'd say he very well earned his money.

Also, considering that most of it is based off Junji Ito's work, who's was also in dentistry; I think we should never be curious about the thoughts of a dentist if horror is constantly on their mind...

They forgot to include my complementary episode of Family Guy on the side. I'd at least settle for some Subway Surfers gameplay; I don't know how my favorite critic, Flying Gorilla, would rate this...

It's an interesting Monster Hunter imitation with the Made In Abyss world branded onto it. Although it's of somewhat questionable quality, it can get pretty addicting when you get into it. I'd say worth the ~$20 sale.

  • Monster Hunter, but with less boss-monster focus and more on the Abyss curse (ascending can lead to bad symptoms), which is really a annoyance if anything. I was expecting some interesting design around the curse, such as intricately designed maps, but really, the Abyss curse just forces you to stand still for a few seconds waiting for it to subside before continuing your journey back up.
  • Controller/Steam Deck is comfy.
  • Unless you're really unfamiliar with the story or you're playing for achievements, go straight to the Deep in Abyss mode to make your OC and play the new story.
  • Also, don't bother playing for a good story. All the cutscenes are JRPG/visual novel tier cheesy and the "Story Mode" is just the S1 anime up to the 3rd layer and skips over a lot of game mechanics that you probably want to utilize to have fun.
  • Food and inventory management is key. You can get softlocked pretty easily in layer 3-5 if you're not careful. I recommend stocking up on Salt since it seems to be the one ingredient needed for 85% of the recipes.

...Oh yeah. And finally, the deaths. I think it's pretty funny, I guess; despite kids being cute, they're not afraid to sugarcoat it and would rather show that few seconds of you dead.

There is a your mom option in one of the dialogue choices and the game doesn't end if you choose it. Don't think anything more needs to be said

I bought this because I haven't played Call Of Duty in a long while and now that it's finally back on Steam, why not.

I should've really not. This game should not be this much of a mess.

The amount of dumb stuff that happens that is not in any fault of the players (in a AAA-developed game, mind you) is way too damn high.

I'm sure after the dopamine of grinding for unlocks/skins dies down I'm most likely going to drop this and remember this as a negative like every usual Call of Duty release.

Thank you Call of Duty for reminding me why we all reminisce of your past games.
