If you don't want to grind for ~ 1 hour to play the Red vs Blue of Scum vs Cortex, which still sucks because each have their own problems and the situation becomes one-sided due to anamnecyte generation being terrible, currently, then you have nothing else to do. Because the Laundromat is full, all properties are bought, and there is not enough Cancer Pods to fuel the other jobs.

This game is a timesink by design, but it is one that does not respect your time. It is also extremely punitive if you are acting outside of your role, which results in any content generated being only from Cortex vs Scum or from the brave souls that take the anamnecyte debt to do some crimes and keep things interesting.

Credit where it is due: they fixed rubber banding.

After the devs struggled to keep this thing in life support with very sparse content, they finally decided to kill it after screwing up with blocks, hit registration and overall performance. The servers are pure lag, and this is coming from someone that, for all effects, lives in the basement of regional host (that means, 0-4 ping). Hits are not being processed right, and animations have been all over the place, affecting the main point of this game, which is medieval hacking-and-slashing.

"The Path Ahead" chosen was to launch this straight down the abyss, it seems. A shame, really, but they can spare that when the genre lacks competition. Personally, I think that it is not worth to buy it, and thanks to this screw up on their part that has not be acknowledged, I'd go as far as to say your money is better spent elsewhere than on this company.

It used to be an okay-to-good game, depending on one's tastes, and it can still be enjoyed if you don't demand too much of it.

Game is good, but balance is kind of bad, and Ironmace keeps dodging the reasons for it being the way it is instead of doing what needs to be done.

10/25/2024 - Ironmace, wtf lol?

Think of it as the low-poly indie child of Dark Souls, Minecraft and an open sandbox exploration game. It is without a doubt a very nice way for you to wreck your sleep cycle and to procratinate on all else you need to do.

Was playing on the Microsoft Store for a while before buying it on steam.

It is a good game, but sucks to play alone.

Much changed since its 14th patch, and though some problems of before were rectified, the game became too cumbersome for me, in a gameplay/balance perspective. Mordhau seems, still, to be the best multiplayer medieval slasher/FPS you can get on the market, so if you're dying to get into that, go right ahead. Some may find the community very toxic, but ultimately it is a sticks and stones matter, and at least in the duel servers of my zone (South America) people are generally friendly.

It is also important to mention that ping is a crucial factor. In other FPS games, you can survive with 150 ms, maybe even 200 ms if you are used to it. But in Mordhau, to have more than 70 ms is a huge impairement. The game's learning curve is already mercilessly steep due to the variety of weapons and how attacks work, but having a high latency will surely make Mordhau an exercise of frustration more often than not.

Regarding gameplay: new players that are not fascinated or used to this niche sort of game will most likely stop playing. In part because content patches have been very slow to come out, and in part because there are many highly punitive, non-intuitive aspects that take away the fun of Mordhau. Since the player rate has dwindled considerably, I believe only the players that legitimately enjoy - or had the patience to learn how to manage such aspects - remained, these more than a match to any green newbie that comes in to take a few swings.

The ships don't move realistically because of the amount of salt in space generating friction with the hull.
