Aight, so here we go. This is gonna go both ways. So bare with me here.

TL;DR - Game plays clean, fun. But it's still early in it's release. It's not perfect. Would recommend.4/5 Stars.

The gameplay is amazing, it feels good, the weapons feel good, and plenty to choose from to fit just about any style of shooting you wanna do. Wanna be a sniper? Pick a rifle, From high powered bolt actions to fully automatic, it's your choice. Don't like your ARs full auto? Switch them to burst, don't like that, Semi-Auto is also available. Modding the weapons, armors, and changing the variants on your weapons, amazing perk to a game that gives every weapon of every type the potential to suit your style of play.

The story is good, but there are times it can be mildly confusing. The dialogue is very amusing at times, and the carefree attitude, "done with this ♥♥♥♥" mentality, and sarcasm of the MC will make you laugh in multiple situations, depending on the type of person you are.

The rough launch leaves much to be desired. I went through the constant disconnects playing with friends, it was hell. But PCF did manage to stabilize it. And I'll give them credit for that. The inventory wipe bug was handled well enough, and the responded well, they did their best to fix and replace the lost gear in a timely manner. But, as often happens ACROSS THE BOARD in Game Dev groups, a future patch reintroduced the bug. (And yes, I was effected by round 2 of the wipe. Out of my 100+ hours, half of that was on the character that I currently can't play. Yes, I'm livid. Anyone would be, but ♥♥♥♥ happens, and dwelling on it isn't the best idea.) Yes, they brought back a bug they already fixed. Most gaming developer teams have done this at one point or another. (So stop acting like it's the first time it's ever happened in the history of gaming).

My biggest issue with the current state of the game, is the fact that like most PvP or leaderboard games, the first thing they resort to in the event of something being "op" is nerfs. Nerfs will ALWAYS leave a sour taste in the mouths of the player base.
So, PCF, if you're reading this... I get it, I really do as a LoL player as well, some things do need nerfs. But instead of dragging people down, try buffing the other skills to make them more viable. Buffs make people happy, nerfs piss people off. This is common sense. More so when there is no PvP, no leaderboards, and lets be honest, the most broken builds are always gonna used by streamers and content creators because it's GOOD CONTENT. This doesn't reflect the standard player who has a job and a life that doesn't revolve around gaming. Don't nerf everyone because a handful of the players are making content. Buff the less used things.
Also, guys, it's a looter shooter.... Let us farm in peace... Don't kill our drop rates unless they're legitimately broken. Killing the overall drop rate and removing the repeat rewards for longer quest lines? Don't do that... Fix the multiplayer bug so people can't get a legendary from everyone single rerun, don't kill the replay value of the quest over all.

Aight, so, to get started. Don't expect to jump into the fun. The tutorial is a bit bland, boring, and just kinda meh. They don't really explain a whole lot there except like... Okay, left, right, crouch, now kill this guy! First bit of the game... Meh, still... Push through it. Get to your first BIG fight. And die. And die again. Okay, one more time! Nope, die.

While not QUITE on the Level of Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, or Bloodbourne, you'll definitely feel like you picked up a gun and started blasting away at annoying AI. Warning tho? Gravity is STILL your enemy... Careful where you step.

After the first bit, get ready to be punished. You rolled a second too soon? Say hello to pain.

I really don't want to give too much away. But as an avid Souls series lover, I can definitely recommend this game. Devs listen, game is clean, and while I've encountered a FEW bugs, nothing straight game breaking. Game is definitely worth the price if you plan to play it for more than one play through.

All right, so the game looked promising at first. $30 for a modern/Fantasy MMO? Awesome, sold. Now, I'm an lover of the Souls series. As anyone familiar with the series can tell you, multiple characters for different styles of gameplay are a must. TSW however? You can do anything. Top all the weapon and skill sets out, flip between as you see fit. Sweet. But still, that's end game, and we're just getting started.

First run, Dragon (because who doesn't love a little chaos). Pistols and Rifles. Soldier style. Cleared up to Transylvania, including completeing the main story quest line. But hectic. Didn't know enough, character is strongish, but a complete mess with points and abilities all over the place. Oh, found this thing called a Deck. Helps you stay decently strong while giving you things to word towards. Sweet. Time to restart!

Second Run. Templar. Deck deck deck, Exorxist? Healer based deck. Cool, reduced que times for dungeons. Soloing the main story was a bit problematic, but hey! I'm a healer, I don't die easy. Story cleared up to Transyl again. Like it, but I don't love it. Restart.

Third run. Templar, Paladin Deck. LOVE it... Tankability if I want it, high single target damage if I want it. Decent Aoe and crowd control too, all I gotta do is switch some specs up. Absolutely best run, but got stopped when buddy wanted to run with me. Paladin for solo time... Time to make another character, we'll get back to the Paladin later.

4th character. Eh... Dragon, screw it, let's check out the Matial Artist deck. Very ♥♥♥♥ tanking build. Easy control over the mobs, though in story, a bit lackluster in damage. All right, it takes me forever to kill them, but it takes them forever to kill me. I win, I have decent passive healing. Chaos Magic via close colse quarters crowd control is a blast, and the sword skills boosting my defensive rating by a chunk, love it. Story cleared past Trasnsyl, caught up to Paladin, switch back to continue with my buddy on the character I love.

20 minutes back on paladin, and I'm content locked. I check out the content pack I need, $10. Okay. But for only a portion of the area I'm in? Wtf?

I go to Steam, and everything Issue 9 and up is only available via Collectors Edition. $25. Funny, cause directly from the site, I can get the standard for $10. Any package deals? Not unless you paid $60 intitially for the Ultimate Edition. Anyway to just upgrade to Ultimate? Hell no, you get another base game key to give to a friend. I can't give someone that, I'd feel bad. Steams total price for DLC is $210! Okay, so 7 DLC packs are $15 over priced. So buying standard straight from the source? 210 - 105. Still $105. Already paid $30. So 135. Sorry, what? AAA games go for 60, and reduce their DLC prices after a year or two. This game is 4 years old... 4 Years...

I love the game, I love the mechanics, but I can't justify that price tag... I can't. I really want to recommend this game, but if you aren't going staight for the $60 Ultimate, which still leaves 4 DLC packs locked, I can't. Was it a full game? I'm sure it was, at one point! But I've been hearing about Tokyo since the beggining of the game, and now you're telling me I can fight there, but I can't progress without buying something? Why even bring it up!? Lock me out of the whole area. Don't let me in then tell me, "Money or you can't do anything besides kill trash mobs."

Gameplay 9/10.
Story 9/10.
Prices 2/10.

It's been 4 years, and you want that much money. That's now how you increase a player base.

Good game. Pay to win? Nope, not even. You can dump cash in, but you still can only buy what available to everyone. It's kinda grind heavy, But the fact is, while I'm not a fan of the Rental system, it's easy enough to get a gun for a few days, and the Training M4A1 is a decent weapon, and permanent. So you'll always have decent firepower at your command.
On top of the Basic Permanent primary weapon, weapons do go on rotation. So you'll always have access to more firepower than you've bought.

The game is tactical to a point, and gung-ho run-n-gun to a point. If you're playing tactical and someone jumps around the corner and lights you up from head to toe, don't get mad. While accuracy DOES drop with movement, some weapons have tight spray regardless. Learn when to be an idiot, and when to play smart. That's part of the learning curve.

As for the community, so far, it's pretty good. There's a LOT of players. However, if you prefer objective based (I myself run primarily Search and Destroy) you'll start to recognize names. Call out to them, say hi, most of us are pretty nice. We do have bad sports gamers too though, there's no way to avoid it, people get stupid, and some people are just born with it. Ignore the few morons. We want you to play because it's a good game! (And you're an easy kill for a bit)

All in all, it's a good game, good execution on the devs part. It DOES need some polish, but it's not broken, it's very playable, and while Ping can be an issue... Why are you complaining about ping? I know you've played other shooters... It happens.

9/10 because nothing feels better than lighting up someone with your MP5, switching to your pistol and headshotting another guy, then pulling out your knife and stabbing a third. Absolutely nothing.

Okay, so I see the issues most people have, and I tried it. I knew I wouldn't be playing it long, but it doesn't take long for a person of skill to make everything literally seem pointless.

The finding a mate part took a few generations to set up good. I've got 1 town that I breed in. That in itself is a problem, because it's in the starting area. Would it be hard to lock other points in another area? No, I'd just do the same build mechanics that guerentee a mate.

Age is a nice concept. You get +10 strength at Adult and Midlife stages, then -10 strength at Old Age and Sage stages. So your old as sin hero is just as strong as your fresh kiddy outta mommy. I get it, but I'm pretty sure a 16 year old could stomp a 120 y/o (My max age when finding a mate) into dust.

City building takes a few gens. Get use to it. Build houses right off the bat. Put more people INTO the city, you'll be able to bone one. Got a bad lineup? Go to another city. All else fails, just start over. Every generation is a learning process (until you hit my point).

Now, the playthrough I have going now, nothing breaks down. Not because of a building, not because I have traits. I have an emerald hammer, had it since gen 2. 800 years repaired.... Nothing breaks, because I walk over everything every life, have to to get strong enough to kill the bosses. How am I doing that?

Turn 2 cities into fotresses, one with STR boost building, one with Damage boost buildings. On a good kid, I can easily take 20 years off other adventurers before even hitting "adult" stage.

Therein lies the issue. I'm a huge RTS nerd. TBS isn't all that different. So I build to withstand over time. The hammer was a lucky drop, whatever. I still bought it. There's traits to get that effect. The problem is the moving. I don't think it should take 8 years to travel from one city to another. You're sleeping half the time, wake up and move your ass. 1 year 1 turn? No. Kill the life boosters so a character can't live 120+ years. I killed 2 bosses in that life. With the frailty this game shows on its "heros" that wouldn't work. Problem is, once you figure out how to build, you can get your guy out by midlife and into big fights, smash the enemies, hit sage, return to your breeding towns and just bang a chick to get a kid. Got the Golden Child Trait? Set up to smash a LOT of critters cause you're OP from the start of that gen.

So for a couple hours? Sure, waste the time. Got a bad memory? Fog of War killing your vibe? Got a phone? Take a picture every time you fully explore a zone. Why are people hating on this? Take notes, it IS a form of stratagy game.

All in all, I'm a harsh critic. I enjoy a challenge, and this game doesn't deliver that past the first 30 minutes (I'm being extremely nice on that) I would have to give this a 4/10. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends, they enjoy the same super insane difficulties I do. It just isn't hard enough long enough and theres no sense of reward for doing anything.

And the "ReGen" they released? I won't be spending 15 USD to see what they did. Same game from I see. New items? New Traits? That's an update you money grabbing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, not a new game. Fix your ♥♥♥♥.
