A very enjoyable Metroidvania-style game with an appealing art direction, enchanting sound design, and accessible difficulty. I had no experience with Metroidvania-style games before this and I never felt like my inexperience with the genre impacted my ability to play the game.
It is relatively short, I felt, but I have no idea whether that's the norm for this style of game. Either way it didn't overstay its welcome nor did it feel like I wasted my money.
The ending was bittersweet and was a wonderful conclusion. Buy the game, play the game, and enjoy struggling to get S rank on the archery mini-game.

I originally gave this a positive review due to the fact they had fixed the constant stuttering and for the controller support but it turns out I'm suffering from an unusual and very annoying bug.
I can not turn my character whilst moving forward with the WASD keys. I haven't encountered others who are experiencing this but the fact that they've also not fixed any of the long-standing bugs is a pretty poor show.
I also submitted a support ticket to Aspyr about my movement bug but after 21 days they still haven't responded.
I will revisit this review if they ever get around to actually enhancing this game.

It wasn't a terrible game, I know that's not exactly high praise but I can't think of any other statement that fits it better. "Not a terrible game", maybe "It was alright".
The graphics are perfectly fine, there's a consistent quality art style throughout the game, and the characters are charming (except Kevin who's just annoying to listen to and whose story was the blandest of the lot).
The combat wasn't exhilarating but it didn't make me want to pull my hair out either; it was ok on the first playthrough and even the second but by the third I was struggling to keep myself awake (thankfully I could blitz through the third playthrough due to being overleveled).
I'd say it's worth the money if you don't mind cookie cutter JRPG stories and the sincerity in which it tells its story is charming.

Give it a go if you're looking for something to play; even if you don't want to 100% it like me, I believe you'll find some enjoyment on a single playthrough.

Angela is best girl.

Obligatory I wish there was a middle-ground between Recommended and Not Recommended.
I have honestly never been so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bored in my life playing a game as I have with Dawntrail so far, the atrocious voice acting doesn't help either. Old characters are still fine but, my God, everyone's accent changes every third word and Wuk Lamat is the biggest offender. The VA has said themselves that they suck at doing accents so why on Earth did they get the lead role? They are incapable of showing emotion in their voice acting and their accent fluctuates constantly.
Speaking of Wuk Lamat, I wish they'd stop trying to force us to like her. I do not like her. She is annoying, immature, and doesn't deserve to have the WoL back them when mint flavoured Graha exists. Honestly I'd rather back the double-headed douchebag than Wuk, at least he's somewhat entertaining.

TL;DR: Dawntrail? More like Yawntrail.

After 12 hours of gameplay I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in.

+ Accessible for people new to these types of games.
+ The game looks really nice and the appearance of the demons is as familiar as ever.
+ The voice acting is great (JP)
+ Pixie is still waifu material
+/- The story so far is ok, it's not boring but it's not captivated me either.
+/- Lots of complaints about the DLC but the DLC isn't of any consequence, besides the costumes I forget I even have the DLC
+/- Combat isn't that challenging but it's not a total cakewalk
- The movement speed is tied to the FPS which is very weird but can be fixed by locking the frames at 60

The game, so far, is enjoyable for me; it's not revolutionary nor does it do any one thing better than the other games by ATLUS but it's still a good game in its own right.

Voiced dialog sometimes lags behind and then overlaps, side-quests are the same thing over and over (Skyrim radiant quest tier), items/weapons sometimes clip under the floor so you can't loot them, cars drive worse than the MAKO from Mass Effect 1, character creation is subpar (no sliders), can not alter appearance in any fashion after creation, lifestyles are meaningless and offer little variation, textures sometimes load in later than they should, killing innocents causes multiple police to DBZ behind you and light you up faster than you can say "what?", enemies a bullet sponges but the katana makes the combat trivial (unless you fight the robo-bois), and your gear makes you look like a hip hobo (no transmog or appearance changer really?).
All in all, I would not purchase this game just yet (or at all) and if you have I would recommend getting your cash back while you can.

Even on its own it’s a fantastic game to sink hours into, with mods it’s even better.
Arachne waifus make everything better.

I was having a lot of fun with this game but it has a major issue with Windows 10 where it crashes most of the time, I disabled the tablet service that runs with Windows 10 (which was the only fix I could really find for the crashes) and it still crashes.
A real shame since I was enjoying this game but I can't recommend a game that doesn't run reliably on my operating system.

From what I see the gameplay is fun and the mods available will supply many hours of fun.
Shame I could never get this game to work.
Using Windows 10 in case you're wondering.

The Disney 2GB patch couldn't find the game, the .exe had to be run in Windows 95 compatability mode just to stop the game giving me epilepsy and when running the sound, and gameplay, turn into a choppy mess.
I tried and tried to get this to work and it just refused to work for me.

Oh, and the game crashes whenever I change the video settings.
So that prolonged the time it took me to figure out whether I could get it to work or not.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally got it to work.
You have to try and retry to apply the 2GB patch for it to work and you run it in Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatability mode.

Now that I got to play it, I can say it is quite an enjoyable experience.
I only wish that you could give orders to units while paused (on the Galactic Map).
The game is a pain in the ass to get running but I can say it was well worth the time.
The tutorial is a bit of a bother due to the planets flashing like mad.
But this issue never occured in a Campaign.
