It’s essentially minesweeper on a hexagonal grid with some extra bells & whistles. The puzzles in the “campaign” portion of the game can be incredibly challenging to solve, but they don’t build much on the mechanics of the previous two games. Overall these puzzles were fun, but they didn’t exactly reinvent the wheel. A random, seed based puzzle generator is the main feature to be added to Hexcells Infinite. An essentially infinite number of puzzles can be generated, which was a feature noticeably lacking from the prior two games. Hexcells Infinite is simple enough to feel intuitive to anyone who’s played minesweeper, yet it can still remain challenging to veterans of the logic puzzle genre.
