Superb writting and level design.
It's a hard game, but it feels rewarding when you understand it's mechanics.
Nothing much to say about this old gem. Waiting patiently for the enhanced edition.
I'd advise to play it once released, but if you're too hype about the SystemShock universe then I recommend this version as it aged decently.

Beautifully unsettling

Okay.
I didn't play this game enough to give an in-depth review.
But remember those days when we were constantly making memes about E.Y.E. being Deus Ex on acid?
This is the result of those memes, quite literally.
There's not a single inch of this game that's not a joke about AAA shooters.
This is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heaven for gamers.
It may look bad, and probably doesn't sound any better when you read these reviews out loud.
But it plays awesome, it's fun, it's approachable, and has a lot of content to offer; you just need to invest enough time in it.
The AI is disastrous, the maps are horrible, the dialogues are outright stupid.
But the spirit is unbreakable, this game is THE ♥♥♥♥, and I couldn't (and wont) describe it any better.

Discount Doom Eternal with coop.
I mean, it's aight for what it is.
I did not fancy the procedurally generated maps, they feel repetitive and uncohesive.
Handcrafting open areas would've changed a lot of the levels and the balancing.
Also, most people dislike the artificial difficulty of this game, which is fair.
I did not mind that for the main story, but it ends up being needlessly grindy on NG+.
The mobility and gunplay is on point tho, melee is aight but every sword just feels like a reskin of the katana.
Enemies come in various size and shapes, there are elements to improve damage but at the end of the run DPS is all that matters.
I recomend on sale, starting from 50% off.
Fun to play with friends, but is overshadowed by borderlands in many ways.

This is everything Colonial Marines couldn't be.
It's not a perfect game, but it's surprinsingly well polished and entertaining to be recommended.
The map design is a blast, you really feel like if you were inside a huge ship (when actually is several ships trashed toghether, abandoned in the space).
The game is fun enough when solo, but the game really shines when you get your friends to fight alongside you in that scary place, so the co-op is a plus here.
The AI is not that exceptional, it's more about when and where the enemies spawn than how they behave, and all things considered it's pretty predictable.
The game is hard enough, it stimulates you enough to train your mobility and map-awareness to actually reach the objective and survive long enough to tell the story, although most missions are suicidal, there's always a way around to completing them.
But the lack of freedom is notable, mostly because most guns and skills are locked for specific classes, so there's not much diversity in that kind of gameplay. And if we are talking about gear, the sad news is that some guns are objectively better than others, giving you no option but getting what's OP instead of what you think would be fun.
Even so, it is a good game, it is fun with friends, and it is good looking enough for the players to enjoy getting lost in a space hulk.
Nice power fantasy. 8.5/10
