The original was the first video game I ever played as a kid. And honestly, this remake is nearly perfect. It has everything that the original did and expands upon features that the original kinda glossed over.

The combat is fun and engaging (I played on combat level 3). Everything you do in combat feels like a choice and the game WILL kick your ass if you are not paying attention. Just like the original, except the difficulty no longer comes from looking over a ton of menus.

The story is nearly the same as the original, some of SHODAN's and Diego's motives are expanded upon and adds more depth where it was sorely needed in the original game.

The level design is nearly the same as in the original, some areas have been simplified as to make it more player friendly, and some camera placements were changed to make them easier to destroy. Very much appreciated.

The puzzles can be real head scratchers, one of them took me 15 minutes to solve on puzzle level 3. So make sure you have your thinking cap on.

Cyberspace feels waaay more streamlined, better than the original but can get a bit repetitive near the end of the game.

The only hard complaint I do have is the ending. It feels kinda flat after nearly dying to a hoard of SHODAN's minions but they didn't have much to work with in the original. I can give them a slight pass but still disappointing.

If you love games like PREY, BioShock, and other immersive sims then PLAY THIS GAME. It is a clear love letters to fan of the original system shock and lovers of the genre a like. Gets my stamp of approval!

Great game for the classic horror fan. Not only does it include many classic horror tropes, but great gunplay and fantastic A.I.! Would totally recommend to anyone who has played Half-life or Doom!
