DISCLAIMER:
Do not buy this game if you are expecting a strong narrative, or story heavy campaign, or active multiplayer.
However DO buy this game if you are looking for a great co-op game, with above average gameplay and variety in environments.

Lost Planet 2 is a direct sequel to Lost Planet in that it takes place in the same planet, but does not follow the Wayne storyline.
The game shows the effects of all the events which occurred in the previous Lost Planet, and takes its own spin on it, which introduces all the variety of environments in the game. The lush forests, infinite deserts, rocky shores and meteor filled locations in the game give the different story campaigns an identity. Different campaigns and locations bring a bit of fun with physics, namely some underwater and in outer space where your movement is altered due to lower gravity.

Lost Planet 2 plays great on my PC, I run with an AMD 8350 processor with an HD 7950 GPU. I get constant 60 frames per second, which would be higer with Vsync disabled.

Despite GFWL going down, the game does feature LAN connectivity for co-op and multiplayer, which can be emulated over the internet with programs like Evolve, so there is no reason to not go through the campaign after GFWL servers go down.
