I wish I could enjoy this but the lack of text scroll speed options is actually such a mind-numbing decision, isn't that sort of stuff the standard for this kind of game? It wouldn't be as much of a problem if you could simply press a button to display the full line of dialogue it wouldn't be as bad, but you can't. As is, it makes playing this game entirely frustrating for me personally. Just wanted to issue this as a statement of warning for anyone else who is like me.

Anodyne 2 is exactly what I've been looking for in the modern era. It's a nice throw back to the PSX era as well as being reminiscent of many of the adventure style of games there were found on the GBA. Not only does it have that exploration game I really crave but there also seems to be a really great personal story in here with so many characters I already adore. I can't wait to play more, and I seriously urge that you check it out yourself!

EDIT: They just added Oceania servers today for all of you in that region!

Game Summary: You get to choose 3 different classes from the start before you ultimately find another one later in the game. It has a fun but short dark souls like PvE with connected zones as open world. Players can seamlessly connect into your world kind of like dark souls invasions, but they can decide whether to fight you or to help you. The combat here is the best part of the game that provides extreme amounts of experimentation and fun. The devs also said they plan on adding more moves and fighting styles to the game for free.

Combat Overview:
A game where if you spend some time with it, you can develop some pretty intense combos. There's a learning curve to it, especially when trying to get all your moves to flow together with ease but with ability to customize 16 different attack slots, there's a lot of variety here and experimentation.

PvE Summary:
A Short PvE mode that will take you anywhere from 6 to 10 hours, it is designed to teach you the game and to learn some moves, It's actually kind of brilliant because not only do you learn the moves by blocking them, you actually get to learn the timing of how to block here. It's a connected world a la dark souls but is not as grand as dark souls. There's 3 main bosses to fight and 6 minibosses you must defeat before you are able to fight the bosses, with enemies in between. But once you beat it. The devs said they're going to add PvE dungeons shortly after launch to add some more content.

PvP Summary: This is the main draw to this game, Currently the PvP consists of Open World "invasions" a la dark souls, or the dedicated PvP mode which only supports 1v1s as of now. The devs are working on bringing 3v3s, a ranked mode, and a spectator mode soon. This is the most fun part of the game, If you ever played dark souls PvP, you'll feel right at home. With the customizable movesets, you can have a lot of fun experimentation.

Positives:
+ FashionAbsolver ( Fashion Souls)
+ PVP is really fun
+ customizable movesets for fists, swords, wargloves, and soon to be staves
+ all content added to the game will be free
+ Unique artstyle

Neutrals:
= PvE, I'm enjoying it actually but since it's kind of short I wouldn't get this game if your only looking to play PvE as of now.
= P2P, but every fighting game uses it so it can be seen as a plus or minus
= It could run better

Negatives:
- Region locked, while it's good to prevent bad connection, people who are friends with someone who lives in a different region from them are screwed.
- Terrible, Terrible Map it's hard to know where you are on it, or where the areas are. It only shows bosses and marked ones.
- It's easy to get lost in PvE

Review Summary:
In short, this is an enjoyable experience for fans of dark souls pvp, there's a lot of experimentation here with the different moves you can learn and use for the different types of weapons (Fists, Wargloves, Swords). But If your coming only for the PvE you will be upset as it's only about 6-10 hours long. Come here for the PvP and enjoy the PvE as a added bonus/tutorial.

I've only just started this game, but let me tell you this the atomsphere is incredible. The game looks gorgeous thanks to unreal engine 4 and they really nailed the lightning in this game and how dark it can really be unless you have your lighter. The controls are probably the only negative in this so far and I say this slightly because while they're not bad and maybe I just need to get used to them, I have felt like sometimes I've died because of the controls. Anyway I'm really enjoying the game so far they seem to have nailed everything right from graphics to sound to gameplay. I'm simply having a blast and I can tell this game is going to get pretty scary soon just because of the tone the game has set from the beginning.

I'm not entirely sure what I just played and did but I enjoyed it somewhat. Really didn't understand the story though. But since it's free it might be worth your time if your into these sort of games.
