Having played Team Fortress 2 for years spanning pre-vintage items and stranges to now, this game has been a wonderful experience. Although seemingly repetitive from a fresh point of view, the game itself and the mechanics changes every so often (with updates). While this might annoy people at times, this forces players to change and adapt new strategies, loadouts and more each time thus creating a dynamic and rich experience.

The game play of Team Fortress 2 is also unlike other games. Whereas in some games, certain classes could overcome many other classes; Team Fortress 2 has sought to balance the prowess of each class. For example, Spys are prone to Pyros. Pyros are easy targets for soldiers. Soldiers are often sniped by a sniper and Spys often backstab snipers. No class is ever overall "the best" which is why players have to train themselves to be used to a certain class and have different playing styles for each class. It takes time to find the right class for a person and to master the game means having to spend time with each class to work out your own personal playing style. Something other games don't often give.

Different game modes and maps also spice things up for players. Modes such as control point forces players to be vigilent while Payload maps require teams to work together to push (or pushback) a cart to certain checkpoints to win. The maps themselves has been created in order for teams to have balance. This means that maps often have different routes to certain objective points and must be used accordingly in order to keep a hold or attack the opponent through these routes. For example, at the start of the map, wide open spaces and side-road routes allows the attacking team to get a foothold to push the cart. Meanthile towards the end of each Payload map, there are usually sections that are covered where engineers can place sentries that shoot anyone who gets close to the end goal of the cart. The way maps are made often forces teams to use a different strategy in the early game and late game.

Team Fortress 2 also has a busy trading environment where in game weapons can be turned into Scrap metal and this Scrap can be used as currency to purchase or trade for other goods. The Team Fortress 2 trading market spans from simple basic weapons to ludicrisly expensive hats, stranges and keys; all of which has an actual price in real world currency (when converting things to the values of Keys). If a player were savvy enough to play the trading game; it is possible to start off with nothing and end up with an inventory worth hundreds ( or thousands ) of $$$ in hats. The community which powers the trading scene sets the prices of items accordingly. Unfortunately the market is also prone to real-world economics such as supply and demand as well as inflation. When I started playing Team Fortress 2, keys were worth 3.33Ref. Now it's almost 18Ref. Pretty crazy but with the amount of Refined (Ref) metal floating in the market, it's value would eventually plummit; bringing the price of everything up.

Bringing everything together, Team Fortess 2 is a sublime game with a wonderful community. Game mechanics are unlilke any other and you could be sure that each time you would log in, your experience would be different from the last. The lack of popularity compared with other "shooter" games such as CS:Go is quite unfortunate as players in Team Fortress 2 can get extremely competitive at times and the game does have small glitches here and there. Nevertheless, the game is a gem in a batch of repetitive shooter games and it's something that people should give a go. I have had a blast playing this game and it has been amazing to experience each changes that the game has made throughout the years. I hope you'll also have a great time when you give it a try!
