Between the wobbly dogfights, the enigmatic UI and unclear and not explained game mechanics i was struck by the sudden realization that live is too short for medicre games.

The art direction is nice though.

So there you have it: Famous action heroes from (mostly) the eighties and early nineties mixed together in a 2D Sidescroller, taking out faceless evil henchmen-dudes.

Having grown up with most of those pinnacles of their genre, i'm conflicted: Can i recommend that game?
And answering that question, im conflicted.
Lets start with the "Bros": On this part, the game can convince at least most of the time. "Brommando" and the "Brominator" are a must-have, the same applies to most of the other heroes. But the set-up is not without questions: Off course you have to put Rambro and almost every movie-character played by Schwarzenegger or van Damme into this kind of game, but why the hell have you taken the "Rocketeer" into the selection of heroes?
Or that girl with the machine-gun-leg from "Planet Terror" ? Or those Brothers from the "Boondock Saints" ?
Why no role played by Charlos BROnson (Pun intented). Moreover, who considers the "Men in Black" or "Leon - the professional" as action heroes? Or McGyver (has he ever killed anybody in the series? I cant remember such a thing).
Anyway, those points are nitpicking; the set-up and the hero-selection can convice most of the time.
Also, the 007 has a nice twist: Its avatar-pic is taken randomly and can resemble every actor who played that spy.

The game mechanics, on the other hand, are not that thought-out.
The melee-characters are almost ridiculously underpowered; while "Blade" and "Neo" can compensate this to a certain levelwith speed, Mel Gibson's "Broheart" and the "Bride" from "Kill Bill" are stopping when attacking, giving you a hart time taking out large groups of enemies.
The leveldesign on the other hand is solid most of the time; while large parts of the terrain can be destroyed with explosives you're almost never forced to restart the level because you blew up too much terrain thus blocking the advance.
Moreover, there are a lot of "rogue-like" Elements in it: e.g. you slide explosive barrels into large groups of enemies, who then are freaking out and starting blowing up stuff, creating sweet chain-reactions of death.

So why the red thump?
Well, i for one thought that "Broforce" is a skiller like "Hotline Miami" in a 2D sidescroller. But where Hotline Miami relies on your skills and minimizes the element of luck (well; at least in "Hotline Miami 1"), "Broforce" is the antipode of those design idea.
The game enables you to play in the "ironbro"-mode; that means, if a Bro dies, you've lost him for the rest of the campaign. Are you running out of rescued Bros, you've lost.
That Mode shows all the design flaws mentioned above. Since you can't choose your Bro, you can find yourself in the situation fighting a Chopper with a melee-character (good luck with that).
Another unspectacular ending is getting killed by an enemy off-screen.
Or you are forced to play with "Cherry Browning", the chick from planet terror. Due to her Machine-gun-leg she can only fire downward, not sideways (yeah, have fun cleaning out those the heavy-armed-bruisers in tunnels).
Every bro can take only one hit, so youre burning through your set-up rather quickly. And you cant compensate that (like in Hotline Miami) with planning ahead, because you could blow up a barrel (accidently) off screen and the chain reaction is killing you. Then again, you're playing Rambro; does he look like he is planning in advance?
Death in HM was part of the gameplay. You restarted the levels by hitting the r-key; milliseconds later you could start the carnage again. and again. and again.
In Broforce, when running out of lives, you need to wait until the "gameover"-screen is fading out and the game has kicked you back to the mission-selectmenu (again, in Ironman-Mode).

So, in conclusion: If you love blowing stuff up with ridiculously muscled "Bro"s and Girls, "Broforce" is the right game for you, best played in your lunch-break or on short terms.

Its hard, addicting, and sometimes you need to grind money for some hours.
But despite that, Rogue Legacy is a nice addicting little gem of a game.
If you are into Rogue-Likes, then you definately should check this game out.

"limboeske Rätselscheiße" meint die Fachpresse (shodannews.wordpress.com).

Großartiger Anfang, schönes Setting, etwas konfuse Geschichte (man kann sie auch behämmert nennen). Allerdings schöne Atmosphäre, und genialer 80er Jahre Synthi-Blade-Runner Soundtrack (stellenweise).

The most annoying part in adventures is to find the little hidden spot for click on it. despite that, it has an intersting design and kind of a thrilling storyline

Wunderschönes Artwork, atmosphärischer Soundtrack. Seit langem ein Spiel was wirklich zum entspannen (im wörtlichem Sinne) taugt.
