I wish there was a meh rating for games as I would give RATUZ such a rating.

RATUZ was an interesting experience from start to finish. I genuinely enjoyed it and would have gotten all other endings if they had implemented a multi save function similar to what you would have in a dating sim. The ending is based off of how many people you saved through your game play (3 in total). So if you want to get any other ending after your first play through, you would have to play the entire thing over again just slightly different, and by slightly different I literally mean it. It was already a chore going through the game the first time with the controls being a little weird. The controls seem to function in what felt like a queue system. You held up for a second too long while climbing a ledge, well then you're gonna jump once your character is done pulling himself up. This would happen multiple times in the middle of me trying to out climb dangerous situations such as acid rising up from below me and end up killing me. Another thing about the game play is that some deaths are just unavoidable as they are off screen and can kill mid screen transfer which doesn't make the game difficult. It makes it frustrating and not fun.

Puzzles were kinda on the meh side but that's probably because I enjoy escape room type stuff so anything that isn't complicated is gonna be fairly easy for me, but i could definitely see how if you weren't paying attention then you would have to think for a little bit. Even then though they weren't all too difficult which is understandable because they weren't the main focus of the game.

Art Style is probably the thing that I liked the most about the game and what drew me to it in the first place. Very interesting character design for the monsters and the environments were good as well. A lot of pixel style games have a problem where its kinda hard to tell whats what, but RATUZ didn't so I definitely commend them for that. Kinda wish they gave the characters a bit more personality though especially the female doctor as, for some reason she falls in love with our character? Who is a criminal that is imprisoned at the facility that she works at. Like there is no reason for this to happen at all, it just.....does. I guess story wasn't at the front of priority for this game as there isn't really any so i shouldn't expect an answer for this but it's just so out of nowhere and leaves me bewildered. Maybe it's because we saved her, but then does that mean if one of the other convicts that we were trying to escape with saved her instead would she love them or was this a Joker and Harley Quinn type of deal. I'm probably just overthinking it at this point but it was just something that didn't really add anything to game and appeared out of nowhere.

Anyways definitely a good game but only for one play through unless you really want to inflict pain on yourself of doing the same thing just with a minuscule difference to 100% it. Then by all means go right ahead. All in all if I had to give RATUZ a rating I would probably say maybe a 6.5/10. Not the best but still a pretty good game to play for an hour.
