Most games have a very straightforward plot, which the player cannot deviate from without halting the game's progression.
Skyrim throws you into a giant sandbox, tells you there's money and weapons all over the place that you can have if you find em, and oh by the way, you're the chosen savior of destiny! Ok have fun!
