you know, for someone who can't swim, you sure seem to spend a lot of time underwater.

This Game is honestly a bit of a dissapointment (probably more so if you got it for full price, I got it from a humble bundle). It looks like it should be a nice game, and while it does have its charm, but just not enough to make up for its flaws.

PROS:
-A number of artifacts, once you find one, you can choose to start with that artifact in any future game.
-A nice weapon/armor material system, silver weapons disarm foes, gold weapons give you stat bonuses occasionally, psychic weapons causes stat drain, among other things
-A couple of nice references to other (better) games in the form of some artifacts and uncommon rooms (such as an Aperture test chamber and I'm pretty sure I saw the castle crashers knights once)
-Despite not having an inventory (kind of a good thing, to be honest-it leads to less of the hoarding mentality many RPGs end up with) it does have a secondary weapon slot, and you can switch between the two easily, which I thought was a nice little feature.

CONS:
-Melee is awful-seriously, there's almost no reason to use it.
-combat is dull and repetetive (there's literally nothing beyond 'attack' and 'move')
-more than one or two friendly NPCs completely bog down the pace of the game
-Unlocking more characters seems to be completely random
-Death is frequent, not because the game is hard, but because healing is almost exclusively availible from random potions/scrolls/food (and the occasional vampiric weapon) and there's no garauntee you'll find anything that actually works well with your main combat stat. also poison is effectively incurable-if you can't survive until it passes on its own, you're dead.

While the game is flawed, it's still somewhat enjoyable if you stay away from the melee characters and the Battle for Stormrise quest. Playing as a Pixie Mage wearing plate armor and using a gun to shoot weapons out of your enemies hands is hard not to enjoy.

More RPGs should have Existential damage.
