Was really fun while while it lasted but is pretty much abandoned for the last 2 years. Not worth it unless you got 63 friends who all have nostalgia for old battlefields, because you aint finding many populated servers most hours of the day.

THE absolute best zombie survival out there. If you like zombies you will quickly get addicted to this game.

Always remember:

Apathy is death.

The Devs have released their roadmap and begun progressing through the planned changes, and things are looking good for the players. I'm actually cautiously quite optimistic for the future of War Thunder now, but that doesn't mean I'm naive; the devs have a history of reverting or counter-balancing the positive changes they make to the game and so players have to be on the lookout for shady behaviour for a long time - maybe indefinitely. But as of now things are improving significantly with the game and it's getting a lot easier to simply play and enjoy casually or competitively.

I'm leaving my original review below, and may update this review at some point in the future with more details as things progress. Either positively or negatively.

Original Review
If you haven't already started playing War Thunder, DO NOT start now! I'm serious, don't fing do it.

This game is addicting like cigarettes. It's bad for you, your wallet, and won't make you happy or enjoy yourself. But you just. Can't. Stop.

This game is criminally over-monetised, even for a F2P game, and it's only getting worse. Did a promo for the game catch your interest? Remember all those cool, modern era tanks and jets? You won't get to play them for upwards of a YEAR of consistent, hair pulling, youth-draining grinding. Don't get suckered into paying for premium account or vehicles (each of which can cost upwards of $70 USD), it's a trap.

This game is a money trap, designed to be as infuriatingly punishing as possible to anger you into paying Gaijin your hard-earned cash just to make regular play somewhat bearable. And it's no longer even bearable for premium players, especially at top-tier with all the aforementioned modern vehicles.

Repair costs are shooting higher every patch while match rewards are crippled, making it nearly impossible to even make up all your repairs even if you preform well and your team wins the match.

The grind is simply unconscionable. The way the devs keep adding more and more vehicles while making each vehicle harder to research, purchase, crew, and repair, my toddler will graduate high school before I complete a single tech tree.

I compared this game to cigarettes above, and it's also very much like an abusive relationship.
Gaijin has no respect for the player-base, even seeming at times like actual hatred. Suggestions are ignored. Forum posts criticising or calling out the game get deleted.

You might think I should just quit playing if this game makes me so enraged. Were it so easy.
As I said, this game is ADDICTING. And there really is no other game out there to compete with it.

And Gaijin ABUSES this fact.

There's so much more to be said, but I've run out of steam.
Check out the War Thunder subreddit if you don't believe me or think I'm being dramatic.

Do. Not. Download; You will regret it.

I haven't played it too much just yet, but it's already a ludicrous amount of fun. When the ball speed hits 300, it starts getting seriously intense; if 2 really good players get a good volley going, it doesn't take too long to break 1000 ball speed, and then your face melts from the bombastic display of Lightning Reflexes

+ Button mashing will end your game pretty fast
+ Local multiplayer
+ I can't seem to get mad while playing this, even if I get roflstomped
+ Rad tunes

- Can't get friends to play with me ಠ_ಠ

Unfortunately, I simply cannot recommend this game, even if I enjoyed most of it. It's quite fun to play, looks very pretty, and all that, but like a hot, crappy boyfriend, it makes a bunch of big promises, and doesn't even try to keep them. Rage is one of those quintessential examples of games not living up their full potential. This game does an amzing job of making you want to explore every square inch of the world presented to you, and it is at this point you realize how little of it is actually available to you.

The world appears large, and dense with lore, but it is merely a facade to look nice in the background while you blast mutants. Every little piece of the world you can get get your hands on and immerse yourself in is quickly gobbled up, and you ask for more, always more. For a while, it gives you just enough meat even as you finish with the last morsel, but eventually the table is empty, and there is no more depth and immersion to be had. The world feels hollow now, the last taste of it bittersweet in your mouth.

Characters are all very well voiced, and many have some great charm to them, but they are all pretty inconsequential to the plot. There may as well not even be any other people as far as the story is concerned. There's not many named characters in the game, and I can't even remember any of their names, only that Ron Perlman voiced one early in the game, but that character is very quickly forgotten entirely.

The other thing that strikes me most about this game is just how poorly the main story developed; you're set up with an incredibly cool plot to unravel, and then it's pretty well forgotten about until the last 10 minutes when, apprently, the developers thought "Wait, are we forgetting something big, important, and that's supposed to be the focus of the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game? OH ♥♥♥♥, WE FORGOT THE PLOT."

This game has one of the WORST endings I have ever seen in a videogame in my entire life. You get sent into evil government comlplex, shoot some storm troopers push a button, and then pop a bottle of champagne as the end cutscene plays(for about 27 seconds, without even some captions to pat you on the back). Wait, what the ♥♥♥♥? No boss fight? Nothing? I didn't even use this ultimate gun thing ONCE and I just picked it up less than 20 minutes ago!

The game ends so abruptly I waited through the whole credits expecting a big "haha, fooled you! here's the rest of the game." but no, back to the main menu. Would you like to play again? How would you like to return the favor, Rage, because I just spent 18 hours jerking you off without anything resembling a climax.

6/10, and that's being pretty generous. Don't pay more than 10 bucks for it if you really must have it.

An excellent space flight simulator with a charming aesthetic, and a steep learning curve. It is absolutely rocket science, but also an absolute delight to play.

Brutal, super-satisfying combat! The medieval setting makes me absolutely giddy! :D

A truly outstanding RTS game. People may complain about it not being true to the original TW games style, or some such thing, and that may be true, but the joy you experience when a cannon ball scatters your enemy's lines, or the sense of "oh crap!" when your forces are battered, makes the game an extremely rewarding experience.

Absolutely love this game. I cant seem to stop playing it.
You quickly get very attached to your character, as well as some other story characters, and will genuinely miss them if they die.
A strong mod community allows you to change any tiny thing you like, which can result in a subtly more beautiful environment, or a drastically different game environment altogether. Buy. This. Game!

I may not have much playtime on Steam, but don't let that fool you; I have hundreds of hours logged on Xfire. And I was playing a good deal before I started using Xfire

My favorite game ever. Even to this day, it's a far better game than Battelfied 3. Some of my favorite moments have happened in this game, that simply can't be repeated in any other game.
