In its current state, I'm quite upset. I was very excited to play this game but due to its engine choice.. its unplayable, even when the settings are as low as possible, it becomes a blurry, grainy mess that still runs poorly.

The level design also isn't as engaging as the first game.
Maybe a case of scope creep? idk but CURRENTLY the game isn't living up to expectations :/

Can't recommend the game currently unless you have a super computer, otherwise, maybe wait for some optimisation patches?

Handling feels good.. thats about all I can say positive.

It looks like stock standard Unreal Engine 5 slop.
Typical visual artifacting every unreal 5 game has that completely breaks any immersion this game could have, even in its half baked state.

You really should try this in a different engine, or try not using default Unreal stuff for rendering. The shadows are disgusting.

I don't recommend in current state, but I do hope the dev makes this game great.

Even though I own all the mainline games.. I will not be playing them anymore due to the EULA changes that I did not agree to when I purchased the game.
I'll be requesting a refund on all BL games and pirating them from now on

Don't buy this on Steam. The dev left it in a state that is unplayable (the game doesn't even launch).
Recommend buying the game on GOG instead, since the game is or WAS good.

I KNOW this is still in alpha, I'm just stating the things that I don't exactly like and hope are improved.

The AI.. now I know banger racing is supposed to be aggressive.. but the AI aren't that.. they're just plain dumb. They run into walls and slam into corners at full speed.. they plow through you like you don't exist. I hope to see them improved soon.

The Damage.. the damage models are really good and the sounds are amazing.. I'm more annoyed at the still existent issue that has plagued both this game and the previous. When the front end of your car is pushed in beyond the front wheels.. any head on damage you could have done is severely cut. You have to gain insane speeds to do any damage at that point.
It almost feels like the cars wheels absorb all the damage.

And thats really it.. I don't have much to complain about. I know the game will be fun, I trust the devs.
Also the performance patches are a great pleasure to see. I can now play the game on medium texture settings (8GB VRAM is a curse) WITHOUT DLSS at averaging 60 FPS. Where as before I'd get 20-30 fps REGARDLESS if I had DLSS on or off.
Very pleased to see the improved performance which is why my only two issues aren't deal breakers for me, I'm sure the devs know of or will listen to feedback.

Still.. for any NEWCOMER to Wreckfest.. I wouldn't recommend this game in its current state, come back when its out of alpha. Instead play the first game for the time being, it will be a much greater first time experience.

I didn't really believe the reviews before buying, so I decided to buy and play the game and.. what little I have played.. this is a terrible red faction game. It feels like it has next to nothing to do with Red Faction. It feels like a cheap early 2000's over the top action movie/game.

Honestly wouldn't recommend.. theres nothing all that redeeming

Don't play, don't download at all.

Back in closed beta this game was genuinely fun, and I loved the progression. Now there is no progression. You can just pay your way through the game, in fact thats about all you can do.
Its easier to stumble your way to the ingame shop then it is to find the ACTUAL GAME.

This game is just depressing, knowing what it once was, experiencing what it once was.. to find out this is how it turned out.

Give me back the closed beta version.

Been playing this game for quite a while and got to experience its development in real time. Very happy that its finally publicly available!

The game feels great to play, feels quite polished. Combat is pretty fun too.
All around the game is great, don't have much to criticise about it. It was fun during its Alpha, its just as fun if not more fun in its Beta!

I'm not entirely against AI... but good lord the AI voice acting in this game is SO bad its distracting. It ruins all immersion. So bad in fact I refunded.. I just can't ignore the awful AI voices.
Also the game graphically looks like a slightly tuned up Mobile game still..

Overall.. too many distracting issues to actually enjoy the game.
