Happy 10th anniversary Half Life 2!

I like FPS games. I also like movies where people fight corrupt governments and people who think they're above the law (Hot Fuzz, John Carter, V for Vendetta). Combine those 2 and you get Half Life 2. Now you get to play as a protagonist from such movies!

The game is a very good mix of FPS action and a great storyline that leaves players wondering what will happen next, to me it was even mildly addicting. The graphics are absolutely amazing for 2004 standards, for today standards they're still good, which means that those years it has been in development has absolutely been ''worth the weight''. What more can I say about it? It has the highest Metascore on Steam and it's well deserved. I think everyone should at least give it a try by downloading the demo. ;)

Warning! This game is not meant to be played for fun, it is meant to show off your FPS skills and fancy looking guns.

The game is actually quite good, with some realistic game modes unique to the Counter Strike series and it has a free item drop system like Team Fortress 2 if you're into that. There are only a few features that I find missing in the game such as being able to heal yourself and allies. You can have quite a fun time with friends.

But now comes the bad part, it's all about the skills. If you are good at FPS games then go play it, if you are not then you're not welcome here. The community is generally rude and bad players are often a nuisance to the pro players and they will try to vote kick you if your performance is ♥♥♥♥. This case is most likely to happen in Competitive mode but also happens in Casual mode servers.

I recommend this game, but only if you have played any of it's predecessors. Why? Because this one is even harder due to improved AI, time limits and fewer shortkeys which is not very beginner friendly but also because it is simply not as good as Commandos 2. The developers removed a lot of features that made Commandos 2 great, such as being able to seach furniture for useful items, bonus levels, difficulty settings and many more smaller things. Sure there were improvements too, like a fully 3D engine and a bigger variety of level designs but this was not enough to make the game stand out from it's predecessors.

In short: It's very challenging for Commandos veterans and other strategy gamers but near impossible for beginners who are better off starting with Commandos 2 to get used to the gameplay.

Looking at the negative reviews of this game reveals that Commandos 3 might not work for your computer for unknown reasons. If you want to make sure you can play the game without any issues you'd better buy it at GOG. http://www.gog.com/game/commandos_2_3
