Youve probably played/seen Amnesia the dark descent, a game that felt quite like Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven", dark, spooky atmospheric, with a solid story and slow dreadful pacing. In comparison, Outlast feels more like a modern horror film, the asylum setting is fantastic, yet a little cliche, along with the uninspired storyline. However you wont really give a ♥♥♥♥ because the pacing of this game is BRILLIANT. In amnesia you plodded along hiding in the shadows, the gameplay sometimes edging on predictable and boring, however here it is much faster, you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LEG IT from the nasties. This game throws you from frantic chases into terrifying jump scares into horrific enviromental encounters. Oh, and the lighting and sound is jaw droppingly beautiful, and integral to the developing doom.

Always Sometimes Monsters is a game that deals with the subject of life, here meaning that it ♥♥♥♥♥ all over you throughout. Its as if Charles Bukowski designed an oldschool RPG. You'll either find the storyline patronising or poignant, and although the action doesnt thrill you like say, The Walking Dead, it is strangely morish, more so than Papers Please.
