So, after playing this game for a day, Here's a short review.

Firstly, this is not a finished product. Don't buy this game expecting one. The devs have put an enormous amount of trust in the userbase by releasing this early, and if you're going to buy the game, and be incredibly upset by it's VERY unfinished state, please just wait until full release, or at least until it's later in development before purchasing and writing a review.

Now, the game itself? It's jank, but in kind of a charming way. Infantry slide around when scrolling across a road, T90's and Merkavas do donuts over their own supporting infantry and launch into the stratosphere, and you will probably get stuck on at least one half-buried ribcage and die. There's a SCAR-Super-H in .50BMG. The AK74 has a krink dustcover.

However, what offsets these issues is that it's *fun*. I get that this is supposed to be the 'Anti-Shooter', but the combat elements are fun and interesting, and with some skill you can shoot your way out of most situations if you have the range. Rather than being an anti-shooter they've kinda made it 'Prepared ambush simulator 2024'. The gameplay loop is pretty addicting, and picking up a lockbox or a gacha box is exciting. Grabbing some destroyed weapons to repair on the next excursion and sell is fun.

However, there are some glaring issues. The water mechanic is... Not ideal. Even with the fix of increasing the cap to 80 days, it's suboptimal. I think a better fix might have been coming back to an emergency water mission where you have to pick up some water within 5 outings or something. I've also had guns just randomly disappear after repairing them. The inability to access your junk stash after offloading your loot is also a major issue, and is HIGHLY annoying as I can't complete a quest currently because one item is in my junk stash, and two are on my character, and the game can't see that I have three in total as needed.

That said, In my honest opinion the good outweighs the bad even at this early stage. I really wish all the gaming rags would hold off reviews until release, and I would as well if they weren't critiquing the game the way they are, as though it were a finished product which it plainly isn't.

All in all, I like the game, and it has a ways to go. If FunDog reads this, please do something about the water mechanic. To everyone else, I recommend the game so long as you temper your expectation and DO NOT go in expecting a finished product.

Enjoyable sim-lite with easy to pick up controls, and wickedly easy to mod. Take off from MCAS Nazrin, and win your little part of WW3.

Also, If you're not using Mk20 Rockeyes/CBU-100's, you're wrong. Absolutely remove massed armor formations by flying across their lines and dropping 2-3.

Fly planes, die, repeat. Do this until you get a mod for a modified soviet era tankette which flies with it's own squadron and clips into your carrier, each tankette around you firing it's own missiles with your selected loadout. Equip MIRV missiles. Win the game.

Been playing since alpha, the improvement has been amazing to watch, and it feels weird seeing THE FINAL update and the end of this journey.

10/10 would buy again.

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. The flight models are exaggerated (For instance, the ground loop on the FW190 is a real thing, but this game, not a simulator, exaggerated it to the point where I cannot apply enough control to counter it.) In addition, this latest update has added a bug which prevents missions from loading completely, and I as the owenr of the computer no longer have the ability to close the game. I simply don't have the permissions necessary, as the SYSADMIN. That's effed up.

In addition, two aircraft are locked behind particularly expensive paywalls. Not even DLC, they're there in the game, just paywalled. If this were a DCS level of detail, I might understand. But $30-$40 for an IL2-level flight model and graphics? No, to hell with that.

One the upshot, the most recent update added mouse controls and driveable tanks. Now, if there wasn't a literal game-breaking bug, we would have a limited-scope War thunder wannabe with a marginally better FM.

As an addendum, I'm writing this as of the most recent update, for the first time. Previously, eight months ago (Prior to BCT, AIT, and Duty Station) I did enjoy this game, not much of a dogfighter, but to practice maneuvers for the joy of flying a warbird. Eight months ago, I would have recommended it, in spite of the problems.

At this juncture, I can't.

Game does not respond to mouse or keyboard inputs. The pirated copy I had before I bought it worked fine though, so do yourself a favor and go steal it, because purchasing it nets you a nonfunctional piece of code and assets.
