This is the tale of how a meh title blew up and became GOTY of 2015. How you may ask? This game was made with love and passion. The creators wanted to make a world alive and one you would want to be in.


You play as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter (witcher as the game calls it) who is on a journey to find his apprentice Ciri. He is a charming and even flirty character, who is easy to love but also has a perfect tone of acting cold and distant, nailing his personality just right.

Like I said, the gameplay of this game goes above and beyond. Enviorments are constructed with love, and combat is very fun to play with. Most common weapons are swords, but crossbows and spells can also be used. It can get gory at times, but I think it adds to the gritty atmosphere and adds immersion. While not following the main story, there are tons of side quests worth checking out, even better than main quests featured in some other games (in my opinion).

To be honest, the story wasn't the most interesting part for me, even though it is what pulled some people in. The pacing is a little slow, and some might even get bored, but I still think its pretty good. Voice acting is amazing but the movements of the characters can be awkward at times. Beware that nudity is involved but handled very maturely compared to other titles.

This is one of my favorite games to date, unlike some other recent titles; it doesn't get boring. You have a reason for going on. Heck even the grinding is very entertaining in my opinion. It is a very fun experience, and can only be best experienced by playing it.
