Only up if the devs actually gave a ♥♥♥♥ about their game.

The control scheme is well thought out and is actually fun to use once you figure it out, exactly like getting over it. The level design is also very well thought out, with plenty of opportunities to save yourself from a fall all the way down, but if you mess up badly you go very far down. Unlike other games that tried to take the getting over it formula and make it 3d, where if you fall, most of the time you're just doomed because there was no thought put into designing the levels.

This is a perfect version of a foddian game but in 3d. It understands what made Getting Over It great in the first place and put it perfectly into the third dimension. You can tell that the devs really cared about making it good, instead of just making another random rage game.

Literally unplayable in its current state. In one particular section the enemy will just always know where you are and constantly follow you, kill you in hiding spots and often even just kill you through walls while being nowhere near you. How this got through testing is a mystery.

After beating the game and very much enjoying it I decided to read some reviews and see why the reception is so mixed. Apart from the epic games inclusion, it seems most negative reviews center around the game being nothing special and just another sonic game in the old style like sonic 3. But I don't see why this is a negative for the game. It isn't trying to be anything more and was also never advertised as such. If you get your expectations too high for a perfectly good game then thats just not the games fault.

The only real negative I have to say about this game is the boss fights. In the older sonic games boss fights were great. You would always be able to hurt them, so as long as you could find some way to get to them, you could attack and hurt them. However in this game its way more like a turn based thing. The boss does his attacks, and then you're allowed to hit him. And even if you somehow find a way to get to the boss when you're not supposed to, their hurtbox is deactivated, so you will just go through them.

So in short the game is great if you like the old sonic games. The mixed reception are just overblown expectations.
