I would only buy the battlepass or cosmetics if I would keep them in future games, the idea of it being so short term makes me less incentivised to purchase them. For example skins purchased in Overwatch, Valorant, DOTA 2, and others remain for many years and even through to new titles of the same series (ie Overwatch 2 and Counter Strike 2).
