Is this game worth your money?

I would say absolutely yes, but I'm a bit of a biased Naruto nerd (even if Sasori isn't in the game). Lots of the common complaints are the PvP-centered approach to the content with very simple PvE missions and I'd be blind if I didn't say that this what the game is, but I love it and keep playing it day after day because of the fun that I've had with my friends. Even when Healers using Water Pillar/Truthseeker Orbs and Attackers spamming claws are ruling the Ninja World League, I find something fun to do because of the company that I've both introduced to the game and met while playing.

Is the game dead? I'd say no. People complain about quick-match being dead, but that's because Ninja World League and the biweekly events are where all of the fun and rewards are. I've played at all hours of the day and have never waited long in a queue. The Peer-to-Peer matchmaking system is definitely a complaint that I have, but I still have fun regardless.

Is it Pay-to-Win? Not really, but much of the meta relies on DLC Ninjutsu like Water Pillar, Koto Amatsukami, Demon Hunter, Hazan Strike, and a plethora more. Does this mean you have to break your wallet to have fun? Of course not. There are plenty of videos on YouTube about non-DLC builds that can be up-to-par with many of the DLC builds. Don't be afraid to buy some DLC Trainers if you really want them, either. They go on sale regularly and there is still content being pumped out (for now) with the next character (Boruto Karma) coming out within the next few weeks.

Summing up a lot of what I have found out about this game: it's worth your money if you love the Naruto series and want to have fun with a game that makes you live out your childhood fantasies of smashing someone with a Rasengan. I spent $50 on the base game and have played it frequently while one of my friends got it for $10 and played for a day. Much of the enjoyment in this game comes down to you personally. If you want to wait until it's on sale, I say go ahead. If you buy it and refund it after playing it? That's fine by me. The only real way to know if you'll like it is if you give it a try and, if you want to, refund it afterwards.
