This game is awesome. Its basically Touhou meets FFXIV, with cute girl bullet hell and crazy raid mechanic dance. Its also a rogue-like, with lots of replay value and playing around with different builds. I love it a lot, as a fan of both of the aforementioned games.

This game was a fantastic game to play through. The main story and it's delivery are fantastic, and the themes are delivered in a way that would be very hard to emulate outside of a game. I can't say much more than that due to spoilers, but its very well done.

Outside of the main narrative, though, the game has some wrinkles. Some of the characters personal arcs can be disappointing, featuring some LGBT themes that were not expanded upon due to the era this game was originally published (2009), and a few *Questionable* filler arcs.

Gameplay wise, its an above average JRPG. The combat mechanics make sense, but on a casual playthrough many will under value the all-important stat-changing abilities that the SMT/Persona series are so used to. This can make certain bosses a little more challenging than you might expect, causing you to backtrack and grind for a few levels.

The character design, and story design, are both excellent. Each character has a place in the story, and their motivations and actions shape those of other characters. the designs of shadows, and personas, expertly show off the most important parts of a character's mentality, from both a negative and positive light.

Ultimately, I do recommend this game. Its worth picking up, especially for the $23.99 CAD its currently priced at, and hope Atlas will continue to port more of their library to steam.

Good MMO. if youre into long grinds and rewarding content only after great periods of effort, youll like this better than most MMOs on the market.
The story aspect of this game is it's defining feature. Many other MMO's don't really make you feel like you belong in the world; I remember the last expansion of WoW felt very much like your character was just a... spectator, or workhorse, for the other characters in the story. FFXIV does a much better job of making your character feel important, while also including many more avenues to express your character.
I stand by my statement that this type of game is not often enjoyable to play casually. The story is good, especially in expansions, but it does require a certain dedication to fully 'unlock' the experience.
I hesitantly recommend this game. not because it's bad, I think it among the best of MMOs, but because the genre of MMOs is very tough to get into. You can find yourself burnt out if you aren't careful. I recommend this game only if you have a group of people to play with, to party together with, as it will make the experience more enjoyable for significant portions of the game, and it sets you up to work together for the late game difficulty content.
