It's a shame that Bohemia Interactive (the DayZ department in particular) is ruining the idea by parasitizing on the unique concept of a zombie apocalypse game.

The developer is taking advantage of the fact that DayZ has no equal on the battlefield of survival games.

I was expecting new and unique content, but I got a miserable hack job - that's how it is now, that's how it was at the release.

The map from this DLC was first presented in Arma 3 Apex. A new, unique landscape was recreated - Tanoa. A lot of content, new weapons, vehicles and, of course, a new company were added to the game.

In the Frostline "DLC", we see the same map, but in a different wrapper. More cut-down, ill-conceived and not ready for survival.

~$25 with the game costing ~$30 is the price of the add-on in which Tanoa appeared for the first time, that is, the Arma department automatically spent more resources and effort on this DLC.

The Arma add-on provides much more unique content than the Frostline DLC.

~$27 with the game costing ~$45 and the old price of ~$35, that is, the game itself has become more expensive - this is the price set by the DayZ department for reusing assets, landscapes and assigning part of the work to modders.

It's not that Frostline does not bring a justifying amount of content. It cuts down on classic content.

There are no analogues of infected zones on the map, no classic dynamic events or at least their substitutes, there is no point in exploring the rest of the islands (only farm them for loot from containers), no analogues of weapons that are presented in Chernarus and Livonia (this is taking into account that the new balance is focused on preserving the setting), no Humvee or its analogues (Sarka as a car of the Russian police, the game contradicts itself in terms of "transferring the setting"), there is no well-thought-out progression, which is why Frostline quickly becomes boring.

This is unfair even within the company itself and its departments, because the Arma employees clearly worked on their game more than the DayZ team.

I feel sorry for the work of Adam "Twilight" Fransou, that the DayZ department, to put it mildly, "borrowed" the developments from the great Namalsk map.

Indeed, it is much easier to recreate a parody of something that works, impresses and is time-tested, than to at least try to do something that DayZ has never had in any form (at least in terms of quality of implementation), in order to impress the community and really motivate them to play on Frostline.

This once again proves that the developer is only capable of "changing" and not creating.

I will remind you that Namalsk was worked on by one person, while the entire DayZ department and mod creators worked on Frostline.

At least two large islands were intentionally cut out on this map, in order to later return them in the following patches under the guise of "new content".

There is a lot of this "new content" in the patches after 1.14 (and this is the only update that was truly impressive at the time), but it's a pity that all this is not the work of the DayZ department itself, but of other divisions of Bohemia Interactive.

In other words, the development team uses content made by other divisions (Vigor, Arma 2, Arma 3, Arma Reforger) to create the appearance of working on the game.

Even those "not in the know" will be dissatisfied, because there is little content in the updates, and the quality of its implementation leaves much to be desired. What can we say about those "in the know" who are tired of the unfairness of the "they'll swallow it anyway" principle.

Okay, let's imagine that a DLC is released for some story-driven game that has a beginning, a half-finished middle, and no end, and the developer says that they will add the missing parts later.

Will such an add-on be called ready? Definitely not, because for any high-budget studio it would be a disgrace.

Are such assumptions of Bohemia forgivable? Also not.

Frostline is worth a separate game, but it does not provide the corresponding quantity and quality of content, because it was made in the most hackneyed way.

Even at the start of Namalsk, the progression was more interesting, it was necessary to move to different points of the map to achieve what all players were striving for.

On Frostline, the only motivation to go to other islands is to loot military containers with NATO weapons, but really, it is easier to do this than to create something interesting and unique on the islands.

And to stumble over the basics of the basics, hoping that the players will find such "grassroots" edible - no, this will not happen.

No one would allow a defective product to be released, but Bohemia allows itself to do so for the second time.

This once again proves how incompetent the DayZ department is not only in creating and supporting their own game, but also how great their desire is to make money by manipulating their own audience, and not to leave them with a positive impression.

To anyone who doubts, i strongly recommend not to buy.
To everyone who bought it - i strongly recommend writing a negative review.
