Easily one of the most well written games I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing, and one of my favorite things I’ve played this year. Easy recommendation from me, go play it blind now! Immediately! ASAP! Or a horde of Yellowjackets will show up at your front door.

Instantly became one of my favorite things I've played this year, positively filled to the brim with so much love and charm. Great job Team Ficus, and i hope whatever you make next goes incredibly.

P.S(The hordes of YellowJackets that reside with me also enjoyed it a lot, they say thank you)

Death Stranding is the most unique game I've ever played, in multiple different ways. Whether it's the compelling sci-fi world, the out of place humor or fun touches, or some of the batsh*t insane things that happen during the main story, there is no game like it out there. But all of this contributes to a game that really feels like a long, down-to-earth journey, (despite the insanity) right alongside Sam, the protagonist. You experience all of Sam’s struggles and frustrations right alongside him, making the player involved in making it to the end. You experience every fall, every destroyed package, every setback. It's a game where the frustration of playing it is a feature, kind of like Dark Souls. I didn’t get the joke of Death Stranding being the Dark Souls of walking simulators till I played it, because similarly to Dark Souls, through all the frustration, little lights of relief peek through. Whether it's a helpful structure built by another player, a thumbs up from BB, the sensation of barely completing a delivery, the sensation of driving through smooth, flat terrain after ten minutes of getting your motorbike stuck on rocks. The gameplay is designed around this standpoint, where many initially frustrating mechanics soon become helpful and assistive when you learn them. Cause you to put in an effort, and that effort paid off. Just like Sam, the player must put in an effort, to complete the journey, to understand the world, to deliver all these supplies and packages to people you don’t have any connection to, to push past all the frustration, giving the game as a whole more weight and satisfaction because you, the player, put in the effort to complete every task put before you. The odd humor also assists with this feeling, giving the player small laughs to ease out all the frustrations. Now, the story masterfully follows the same themes as the actual game, cause the story is something you must put effort in to understand, to really watch and follow along with every cutscene, try to understand each character's motivation and themes. Its easily one of my favorite game stories of all time. Each character is wonderfully written and acted, with big names like Troy Baker or Mads Mikkelson giving wonderful performances, with each voice actor giving all the characters life and emotion. The entirety of the story is interesting, and the ending is the most impactful I've experienced and very emotional as well, getting even me to tear up. There are very good character conclusions, with the best being Sam himself as his arc gives the ending massive impact. I won’t go into massive details, but you just need to know, the story is worth a visit alone.

That's really all i have to say, now go play Death Stranding.

Genuinely the most insane game I’ve ever played. One of my favorites of 2023

Pros:
Shooting feels very weighty as week as fun and melee combat is great, with some interesting weapons to back it up. along with glove powers, most of which are fun to use

Drop dead gorgeous art style, with a weird, futuristic, Soviet vibe

Pretty good story, with some good twists and turns to keep you interested

Has best catch phrase of all time: “crispy critters!”

Really good performance overall, with indoors holding at 140 fps and outside areas holding 90 -100 fps on atomic settings.

Graphics look gorgeous with some really cool areas to explore, animations for enemy attacks are really detailed and work well.

Interesting puzzles with cool ideas all around, really enjoyed solving them.

Someone must of been insane on the dev team, because some parts in this game are outright insanity(in a good way)

Cons:

Voice acting isn’t the greatest, with English voice acting sounding stale and weird, but it kinda grows on you so don’t mind it as much as I used to

Bosses are kinda boring, with the exception being the final one,

The “open world” really isn’t open, kinda just a really big path to follow, but don’t really mind this.

Dialogue is heavy, and often overlaps accidentally

Slight texture and item pop in can occur in outdoors, but doesn’t really effect gameplay

Overall, if you like bioshock, fast paced shooters, and great stories, I can whole heartedly recommend this one

hop out of my car. slam the door open knocking down a guard, slam his head against the ground til he dies. throw his pipe at his buddy who just came around the corner, grab the pipe, smash his head in. shotgun wielding Russian runs around the corner, i duck around the corner, grab the boiling water on the stove, throw the water on the shotgun wielder, grab his shotgun. move through main hallway, blasting anything that moves. there is blood, brains, and guts everywhere. stop to catch my breath, then one guy that i missed come around the corner and shoots me in the gut with his double barreled shotgun. i am dead. i hit the R button, and do it again.
buy this game now.
you won't regret it.
