If you want to just dig up treasure and fight easy ass skeletons, do it up. You'll love this game.

If you actually want to play the game and fight other boats and steal treasure and be a pirate, This game has gone from a true gem in the pvpve genre to an absolute dumpster fire in all sorts of ways.

Game breaking bugs that never really get fixed, but every patch introduces new ones. Seriously. Hit reg. Bucket Reg. Food Reg. Cannon Reg. Chainshot reg. Your boat going completely under the waves. Your gun not shooting. You name it, something about it doesnt work.

Cheaters are now running rampant. They can actually give temp bans and dox players now through the game. They teleport to your cannons and zero-spread blunderbuss you from across your boat. cannon aimbots. Players flying around dropping kegs on your boat. God mode.

Finally, about 80% of the playerbase are pve potatoes that will run against the wind because there is no way to catch them if their boat is the correct matchup against yours, zero chase mechanic. So, about 80% of the boats you come across just run away from you into the wind. Since the timmies make a huge majority of the player base, rare caters to them by constantly nerfing the pvp community through things like getting rid of mechanics in the game since launch. nerfing double gunning at the same time releasing weapons that are all but worthless. Rare legit hates PvP, so don't get this game if you were hoping for that.

They have solid ideas, but they always ruin it by not following through. Most recently is the burning blade addition, where you can't even take the boat over from other crews, only sink it or commandeer it from pve. They took what could have been an absolute blast and ruined it.

As a player with 3k steam hours and over 5k total, stay away. Game is in its death throws. They only really put effort into updating their emporium shop.
