would play more of the demo if the save data carried over to the main game (i understand why it wouldn't).

reminds me of kakeguri and danganronpa with 1v1 hold'em.
goes kind of hard. interested to see the final product :)

you can be annoying with instruments, cool with people in chatroom, chill to some tunes and catch fish, do trickshots off mushrooms and drinks.

I feel like this game is hard to review.

As someone who loves Danganronpa and Zero Escape, I feel like this game doesn't do justice to either franchises.

What I will say, is this game leans heavily much more into Kodaka's writing and story telling. The characters are very much more like DR characters - vulgarity, goofy writing, not super deep character building. Shinigami is probably the only character I actually really enjoyed, and even then, there wasn't enough development for the ending choice to have real meaning. If I had to name a 2nd one, it would be Hallara. The expectation of the game is to form bonds with your fellow Master Detectives, but I feel like the story and writing doesn't really sell it, therefore everything else loses any setup/meaning towards the end of the game.

Music is extremely underwhelming, especially considering Takada was the composer. There are a handful of good tracks, but it doesn't carry through the game well, unlike DR.

The art styling/motif of Kanai Ward was surprisingly good. I think it nailed the weird cyberpunk/steampunk aesthetic pretty well and was consistent throughout the game.

I won't say anything about the story spoilers-wise, but the overall story writing/twists were too simple and straightforward. Too much handholding with the cases, even though anyone who is relatively reading and paying attention can figure it out.

Mystery dungeons were kind of a combination of DR trials and AI simulations. I'm indifferent towards this gameplay loop.

From a technical standpoint, it didn't have port issues that v3 had and runs smoothly on pc. Didn't really experience any glitches or bugs that caused problems.

Overall, if you play DR/Zero Escape, you should try it out, as it is kind of more of the same, but put your expectations low and definitely don't put 60 dollars towards this game. Game is about 20 hours if you do all of the side requests. You get an extra like 30-60 minute side case with each Master Detective afterwards.

For fans of analog horror, unnerving games, and games that don't take itself too seriously.
Provides a concise and relatively unique experience and take on fantasy/mythological horror creatures in a Papers Please-esque format.

You don't need to be 100% right or attentive to beat the game, but you get separate bits/jokes if you do.

8/10. The motif/themeing is so on point throughout the whole experience (music, art style, writing).

This is the gacha game everyone should be playing.

Amazing music, really captivating writing, and unique and gritty art style.
Love to see a game be able to walk the line of serious and humor so effortlessly.

The gacha elements are satisfying and not pay to win at all. The battlepass isn't a necessary purchase, just a nice way to support the devs. They give you so much currency, that its efficient to use it on energy regen, as opposed to saving/whaling a banner.

Insanely good turn-based rpg, period. Give it a shot.

Only con I've had is some relatively unique bugs, but devs are on top of the patching/fixing (and give currency for oopsies)

Would love to rate this game like 7/10, maybe 7.5

Game bugged my file, so it would say progress was saved, but it never actually saved the progress. If you died, you would warp to the original save point, no matter if it was 5 or 20 minutes between deaths.

Tragic, especially since the devs just supported a new game. Sad to see them not clean up a bug from one of their older titles.

The game is hard to recommend.
The concept is pretty cool. The gun play feels good with a wide variety of stuff to choose from. The map design is decent. The atmosphere and theming of the game is amazing. Netcode and server support is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Playerbase is super camp heavy, so either get really good with your map knowledge/game sense to be able to out play people, or be ready to wait up to 30 minutes+ for people to actually make plays/get antsy.

Game mechanics reward people for not interacting with players and Crytek doesn't really care/intends to make it that way.

I have a love/hate relationship with this game, just like most people who play it. Its the best battle royale out there, but the bar is pretty low for that considering its been a race to the bottom for a couple of years now.

Good luck to people who play it. I also understand people who avoid it.

Revision: Crytek doesn't know what people want. Same issues but they added "more content". Its all broken or behind paywalls.

Genuinely hope this game dies. It deserves it.

Updating review....

the devs keep making the game worse gameplay wise and monetization wise.
please stay away.
