It's one of the best Atlus games yet. If you're a fan of Persona but thought the game was a little too easy and light in combat encounters this one is much better. it like Digital Devil Saga (which it borrows a lot of DNA from) is a great middle ground between Persona's character and stories and Mainline SMT's combat depth. If you're a fan of megaten, especially Digital Devil Saga you will enjoy this immensely it's the closest to Digital Devil Saga 3 we've gotten.

It's not perfect though. The PC port is a general mess; while it runs okay on good hardware, there are many glaring omissions. The character doesn't even have full 360 movement without a mod which is unacceptable. They don't detract from the overall experience too much but it's pretty inexcusable to put such little effort into a port in 2024

Probably the single best souls game that isn't made by fromsoft. Unfortunately, it seems they made the game a lot easier post-patches to appeal to the people complaining, but it's still a great time.

Combat is incredibly fluid combining elements from both bloodborne and sekiro creating a unique vibe. Neither parrying nor dodging is the best you have to use both in tandem.
Boss design is great and challenging, but it's pretty easy to get very strong in this game i'm shredding boss health bars so if you want to power through stuff you can.
Game is pretty linear but I'm not going to complain about something intentional. Enemy variety is also fantastic you keep seeing new enemies up to the endgame.

In many ways this is better than some of fromsoft's own games and if you're a fan of bloodborne or sekiro you should check it out. It's on par with DS3 (which I consider near the top of souls) and unlike that game, the bosses don't start terribly and get better they're all good (with one very annoying exception).

It's not a perfect game by any means, but if you're looking for a pure souls experience that isn't marred by stuff like an open world. This is an incredibly competent polished experience. On top of that, the PC port is very well done which you can't take for granted these days.

Great example of how a studio not knowing how to do open world can ruin a formula. This is by far the weakest souls game since 2 and whatever good that is there is constantly ruined by how terrible the open world is past the opening hours. The amount of recycled content is absurd and the sheer number of reused bosses borders on comical. This is on top of the bosses outright being designed worse than previous entries. I have 0 interest in DLC and If this is souls moving forward I doubt I'll be getting the next one.

BUY THIS GAME! this is a perfect example of what passion can create. one guy over 4 years created this masterpiece. It is funny. The combat system is amazing. The story is interesting, and the art is increadible. This game oozes charm and should be played. Not to mention that this is probably one of the best pc ports I have ever seen. Do yourself a favour and paly this game for $15 this thing is probably better than msot $40 titles.
