Early Access Review
The game's unique art design gives you a silly little world to creature around in. The foundational systems put on display in the Early Access are strong and flexible, allowing you to experiment with silly builds. Peer to peer public servers are often social spaces to some, meaning you can treat the game as a funny little chatroom with quests, but the Solo player won't be left out of the fun. The modest amount of grinding rewards your loot chase by letting you feel powerful and customized, but the game is presently beatable with class skills and shop-bought items should ur luck just be crazy bad

tl;dr - shortstack RPG good. Movement good. Combat Fun.

Early Access Review
I never played half-life and I'm not very invested in SCP stuff, but this game really spoke to me in ways the Sci-fi genre hasn't in a while. It's weird in the best ways, and the graphical style really benefits that unique charm. There are downright uncomfortable situations that left my skin tingling and encounters that literally made me go "WOAH" and I think the survival aspect plays into that whole thing very well.

I'm a big fan of survival build crafting games, and if you are too, I must warn you that as it stands now, this game is a finite experience. And that isn't a problem, you're trying to escape the factory after all. But since a lot of games like this feel infinite I think it's worth mentioning.

For now, the permadeath mode was scrapped but I think this is one of the few survival games where it would actually be really fun.

There was only one or two things I didn't like. There was a point where we entered an area that iirc didn't have any exposition and it turned out to be just completely dark and running out of light made it near impossible to complete, but when I came back with better recourse management it wasn't even a challenge. The other thing was my friends based up next to an enemy that respawned up to 3 times a day, did high damage at a massive range and dropped nothing. To make matters worse, they'd aggro on the base through walls and attack it even though they couldn't hit it, so we ended up with a noisy neighbor who wasn't even worth killing because it was such a chore lmao

Overall this is one of the most fun games I've ever played and I can't wait to see what else is in store for us. :3

They fired the music guy, the other music guy, the QA people who made sure armors didn't suck, and then blamed the players for it. Lightfall got delayed again too. sorry! I mean the final shape, which was supposed to be lightfall but they said they needed more time to cook. How tf you gonna cook without chefs???

It feels like every action taken over the last 3 years has been to buy time for Marathon. They moved all the best people they had to it, then proceeded to delay the endgame DLC 3 times and cobble together a new DLC (the lightfall we got) built off the back of what feels like a season's worth of content. And speaking of seasons, after the Final Shape they'll be "episodes" which seem to say they'll be hard gating your progress weekly. RN you can grind the season pass at your own pace.

So, I can't recommend this game since the future is is kinda bleak.

If you are looking for a new game to sink your time into, this is not the one.

If you took a break and are thinking about coming back, it's not worth coming back to. This is still the game you liked, but is also still the same game you needed a break from with all of the frustrations compounded by a business that is blaming your break for laying off the people who made Destiny - well, Destiny.

And what comes next just won't be that game anymore.
