Like all civ games, there will be polishing and improvement as it goes on, and it's not perfect yet.

The big changes, the fundamental design shifts between this game and its predecessors are all stupendous however, and those would be much harder to fix/implement later. The things that need adjustment are some improved clarity in the UI, some other minor adjustments. Fortunately, those are all relatively easy to make, especially in comparison to all the seismic shifts that they got right.

This is the freshest feeling version of Civ in years, and I look forward to the enhanced polish/improvements that it will get over time.

Do you like BG3, but want a side of heresy? Then this game's for you.

Initial review: oh no, they're hot

Updates after several hours of playing: You may feel weak at the beginning compared to Zag, but remember how weak Zag was at the start as well with no aspects, limited upgrades, etc.. In addition to the standard roguelike progression for upgrades, just like with the first game you also unlock new methods of upgrading as the game goes on. First run Zag is nothing like a zag doing high heat, and the same is true of Melinoe. Trust the process. Mob and biome diversity is fantastic, there's tons to do and tons to see.

Oh yeah, and they're all hot.

2.0 feels like the game everyone wanted this game to be at launch

Great story, great characters, great gameplay. Great fun.

I was worried in EA, when this felt like a divinity game with a Forgotten Realms skin, but this really feels like a Baldur's Gate game now.

A must buy if you're a fan of classic CRPGs, and probably even if you aren't.

Much spoopy. Very space.
